Aluminum poles aren’t too bad. We recently replaced a couple rotten wooden poles at work with aluminum. They were 30' tall and only weighed about 250lbs.

Based on my dealings with scrap yards the answer is offer them 30% of the actual scrap value and threaten to call the cops if they don’t agree.
