Any other portable device can already play the games you already own on PS or the games exclusive to PS.

The benefits of having a weird experimental mode every now and then WAY outweigh the negatives of not doing that ever. And they have to replace an existing mode otherwise nobody would play it. League had a similar issue with game modes when they had 10x the playerbase.
