I’m actually in the same boat as you. In fact my launch day PS3 actually has since had the overheating yellow light error as well. I still have it though, but that drive has been wiped and used in a different PS3 since then (I had upgraded it to 500gb to use the linux partition and save loads of games.)

I decided as soon as I read the description of the main character that he was indeed the same Doomguy. He probably just altered his own suit as he needed to when he got the chance, all to keep pushing forward and kill more and more demons.
