I continue to be outraged that he desecrated a holy place AFTER being welcomed, sitting with them and being prayed for. It’s rage on behalf of all the nice older ladies who welcomed me with a hug and older men who swiftly and respectfully found me a seat or swooped in with programs in all the churches and masjids I’ve

I understand your feelings, but allowing the state (or federal) government to do this to him allows them to also do that sort of thing to anyone.

This creature should be allowed to live, but in complete isolation from all humanity. This should mean no visits from family, no contact with prison staff, all his meals shoved under his cell door, which would be a padded cell with a solid door, no exercise periods, and devoid of anything to do with the outside world.

How is he not dead yet? Doesn’t anyone in the prison he’s in, guard or prisoner or staff know what he did?

First Amber Gyger decides that she is going to appeal her light sentence next month and now Dylann Roof wants to appeal his conviction because Mitch McConnell loaded up the appeals courts with Trump nominees.

While I think he needs a quick, short walk to Ole Sparky — I won’t argue against him having an an attorney that can argue that he was wrongly convicted or that his sentence should be overturned.

If you rearrange the letters in dylann roof’s name just so, it spells out, “I’m a muthaf’kn racist mass murderer.”

Kill this “muthafucka” yesterday!! The taxpayers shouldn’t be footing the bill to keep this good-for-nothing, pencil neck, piece of shit above ground. His life needs to end exactly like Jeffrey Dahmer’s; beaten to a bloody pulp, what’s left of his body will have to be scooped up with a damn shovel!

While I know that he will absolutely join the white supremacist group at his particular prison, be lauded as a hero, and learn absolutely nothing about how to become a better person, I can’t make excuses to justify the death penalty.

Now playing

Ms. Graves, you need to study up on Nina Simone, sis.

The NFAC would love you! <crooked smile>

How dare you talk about strong lyrics, woman who Miss Tubman would have pulled her gun on!” DAMN...lol. Your mind is a masterpiece of notfuckinaround.

She’s a 57 year old black woman who has survived this many years in the EXTREMELY h’white opera world -- of COURSE she was afraid of being Rev. Jeremiah Wright-ed.

Yeah, no white person should be saying that this doesn't speak to black people or black America, he should shut the fuck up and his whitesplaining.

I’m pretty confused by how she could be ok with the whole theme of the event, but find those particular lyrics that objectionable. If she really didn’t feel she could sing that piece, she probably should have stepped down and offered the role to someone else.  Or maybe they could have swapped who was singing what

Hmm, ok Denyce Graves. Were you truly so afraid of being Rev. Jeremiah Wright-ed that you actually complained about one lyric in a whole opera about a massacre of Black people? How dare you talk about strong lyrics, woman who Miss Tubman would have pulled her gun on!

Godless America!

I think the best way to point out America’s imperfections would be to write the lyrics: “America is perfect, so absolutely perfect.” I think that’s what he was trying to say, to which I reply: “That is a great point, actually the best, most perfect point.” </s>

Are you trying to tell me that saying the opposite of what you mean isn’t a more elegant way to express your sentiment?

and that repeating “God Bless America” twice instead would be “more poignant than the original and also makes your point in a more elegant way.”
