I like the no-glare possibility. Polarized filters and smart software could eliminate hotspots in my ‘mirror’ or flashes of light in my eyes. The screens need to be OLED though - I don’t want any glowing nonsense when I’m driving at night.

2% more efficient cars means 2% more cars allowed on the road without a net effect on the environment. Thats a plus.

The idea with the camera is that would be unnecessary. The field of view in the camera is wider than even you moving your head a few inches forward provides.

And how many capacities will a service station need to stock? Will a Miata EV and an F150 EV both use the same pack? What if the only pack available at a service station is a 70 mile range Miata EV pack? That’s a 20 mile range F150 EV pack - can’t really make it to the next station with that pack.

I would believe paperwork. I would think that the manufacturer would go to the government with their recall already knowing who to notify, but I understand the rubber-stamp in triplicate processes will always exist.

At home we have a car that gets 60 MPG and a car which drives less than 1000 miles a year - we’re pretty unaffected by gas prices at home.

Dumb question: Why does it take over a month to notify owners of a safety defect in their car?

Battery swapping has the problem of you are trading 30% of the car’s value out at every gas station. Get a bad pack and you’re screwed.

We’re still waiting on the EV SUVs and trucks to come around. My wife could really use one as a work vehicle where they regularly drive 150-200 miles in a day.

I think you have to consider the local income with the gas prices. If everything in your world is twice as expensive but you’re also making twice as much as the ‘other’ guy, $5 gas may not seem terrible. But go live in a state where the minimum wage is still $7.50 and $5 gas is a ludicrous amount.

Its ~$3 in Seattle and I think we tend to be one of the highest amounts in the country. We aren’t blinking at the current prices, but send them up to $5-6 (country would average $3-4) and we’ll take note.
