But they are both $50k vehicles and people who would have spent their money on an Audi / BMW / MB are now buying a Model 3. Its irrelevant to most people looking to flex - especially those looking for the ‘Ultimate Driving Machine’. BMW can’t make that claim anymore.

My Ioniq beats it on paper in every measurable way - we’ll have to wait and see how the reliability factors in to the mix. I do have a 100,000 mile manufacturer warranty (and lifetime on the battery) though.

Nom nom nom. The Model 3 is a direct competitor to a 3-series and its just a much more fun car to drive below 80 MPH. Insta-torque is an unbeatable driving dynamic.

E9 EV conversion? That might solve a lot actually!

Neutral: Build dedicated EVs that have subtle and refined styling and top-of-the-line performance. You know, the ultimate driving machine. Tesla interiors are polarizing, but their exteriors are generally pretty subdued.

I agree, the new Miata is more civilized than the old soft top model, and with more power it’s now just as fun.

The frost thing was super annoying to us.The mini heaters in the cabin made a world of difference to our quality of life.

I drove both the Kona and the Elantra GT while I was at the dealership. I was completely surprised by how stiff and bumpy the ride in the Kona was. It was harsh and uncomfortable.

Or 3-5 minutes. I’ve lived in Montana where the temps regularly went to -30 to -20 F. 5 minutes below freezing while sitting against a cold seat absolutely sucks.

Ah, sure thing. I’ll make an effort to outlay why better in the future.

Holy crap!

I don’t disagree, but you still have to wait for the interior to warm up even if the engine is not freezing.

If you’re a 2 car family you can probably have a Honda E and a Prius C. Probably. If one person has a 50 mile commute and the other car can do road trips, what else do you need?

If you live in a cold spot you might not say this.

I test drove one recently and was thoroughly impressed (Hyundai gave me $50). Quiet enough, quick, pretty sharp. Generally quite a good car. I think on my test drive I only managed ~15MPG though.

“Something fun and unique but also reliable.” That sounds like a Honda to me.

If Ford has brought a 2 door FiST over to the States I would have bit so quickly. I don’t have anything against the 4 door, but Top Gear ruined me by driving the 2 door around on screen.

A friend of mine gets a new 3 on lease every other year. He always gets the top-of-the-line spec and that is a fun and crazy well equipped car.

It also comes in a significant selection of colors - a feat which is not easily said for many of the possible suggestions out there.

Oh yeah, I totally forgot about the FiST and FoST cars... dang you Ford for killing some great cars.
