The dissonance between what Liberty Media professes to be the reason for this race and the actual logistics are so on-brand for a corporation with its head stuck up its own ass that I look forward to the inevitable ratings/revenue underachievement and shock from LM.

Isn’t F1' strategy in the US just getting folks like Shaq, Serena, Timberlake, et al, to show up and make the event the place for “cool kids” to hang out, and, most importantly, to been seen being too rich to even watch the race? That’s what the Miami event turned out to be. Putting this race on late at night just

When I was in the Army all those years ago, I paid $25 in 1973 for a general admission ticket and the bus ride to the Nürburgring. The German bus driver could not find the entrance to the grand stands and with 20 minutes to start, said “pick a spot along the track” - I picked the outside of a corner and other than the

nearby encampment of unhoused individuals was not involved in the blaze

I’m a Vegas lover, and F1 fan, and when they first announced this race I told my wife I wanted to do whatever it took to be there. I didn’t even need a race ticket; I would have been content to watch on the TV in the hotel room as the cars zoomed by outside. I just wanted to be there and experience the vibe.

Did a quick company search for Apex Development, Inc on bizfileonline.sos.ca.gov. then did a search for the company owner on Google, and literally court case after court case was coming up for them. The Calabasas address is a UPS store and mail box (not bad, but for a company active since about 1997 and not really

My thoughts exactly. You can fly to Silverstone, have a week of touring around Britain before or after the race, hotels, food, tickets, car rental would still be far cheaper.

I was thinking the same thing. I would love to someday go see an F1 event but if I am going to spend $10K+ for a weekend, it better be a historic, iconic, place like Monaco and not the place I can go to for a cheap getaway any other time of year.

Did that hotel price include all the resort fees that they like to tack on last minute?

I was thinking of just popping up to watch Thursday practice and while the tickets were still not cheap (~$250) I was shocked how low the hotel prices were. In the end the total cost (gas + hotel + tix) made it more than I was willing to pay.
I’ve been to races in Europe and the Mid East. The Vegas race is vastly

Well stated.

Taking cues from Champ Car/CART days, when there was a Mexico race and a Brazil race and a Germany race and UK. And Australia. Cost of shipping was subsidized somewhat by FedEx the series sponsor for a couple years back then.

why? phoenix is hotter. we have better weather and much more to do. Stay away from the strip and its just like any other city

Because only states with gambling have Universities?

For work related reasons: Nevada Test Site, Nellis Air Force Base, Hoover Dam, UNLV (I guess this one has a lot to do with hospitality, but not all the degrees are hotel management).

Why do they have to be unique? What an idiotic condition.

I lived there for ten years. Taught at UNLV. Never once went to a casino.

I triple-dog-dare you to say that to ANY casino bouncer in Clark County. Film it, please.

Massive fan of their work. My feeling is that really matured as writers with Nemesis Games (The book where they are split up and Amos is on Earth). I liked the story up until then, but with the fifth book onward, I really enjoyed just the writing itself. I’d love to ask them if they felt that they become more

Awesome!
