I love my Mustang, but suggesting it as an alternative to any of these hatches is a bit of a non-sequitor. Most people who are looking for a fun hatchback aren’t looking for a RWD sportscar.

Don’t forget the GT-R! :) Even putting aside the looks (I’m not a fan), I don’t get why anyone with the means would drop $100k+ for a bloated 9-year-old supercar.
Indeed, especially given the price. When I was car shopping last year I was tempted to take a test drive, but then I looked at the prices for these old-ass cars. Talk about sticker shock! I decided against making the effort to visit the Nissan dealership, as I didn’t want to waste the salesman’s time or mine.
Wow. If you’re going to swap cars on the regular, at least buy cheap used cars on craigslist! I don’t understand how so many people are comfortable just throwing away equity on a regular basis.
Wow, that is scary. I’ve known some people who are as reckless with their cars as she seems to be with her money. I’ve known a couple people who basically never even get their oil changed. One of them actually destroyed the engine on her leased Scion tC and had to get a rebuilt engine installed. Afterward, she wanted…
Indeed. As a left-of-center independent, I am continually amazed at how much liberals and/or Democrat supporters will continually make every excuse for the Muslim faith (Ben Affleck on Maher comes to mind). I have no big problem with religion as long as it’s practiced peacefully and not forced on children by their…
A co-worker and his wife made a similar bad decision by buying a Mini Cooper for way too much money. Eventually, they made a similar decision except I think they did more of an active repo, where they actually just gave the car and keys back to the bank, or some shit. I’m not sure how that works exactly, but I think…
The fact that he lazily copied a hashtag 100 times instead of writing anything of substance makes you smile? I mostly support the BLM movement, but this is lazy and exploitative. And comparing the Muslim religion (or any religion - they’re all bullshit) to being black (or any other race) should be an insult to anyone…
Lead-acid is going away, as it should. Too much weight, it doesn’t perform as well at extreme temperatures and generally shorter service life. Not to mention some of them still require maintenance.
I agree it should be leveling off, but according to GM we (or at least they) have already passed the $200/kWh mark. They claimed back in 2015 to have hit $145/kWh:
the vehicles could roll after the driver moves the automatic transmission lever into park position
For the car companies, a five (or more) year loan means that they just took most buyers out of the market unless they can get enough on the trade-in to cover the remaining balance.
Well, either that or they’re simply convincing people to make bad decisions with these terribly long loans. I agree with others who think we could be in for a mini-financial crisis due to the popping of the subprime auto loan bubble, although it would certainly be much less catastrophic than the housing crisis.
Awesome article and amazing pictures. I’d love to visit Japan and check out places like this, but the language barrier scares me. :/
The cost of batteries alone would probably put full electrification out of economic feasibility.
I have never understood the appeal of red interiors. Different strokes, I guess...
The Berettas were pretty cool. I would say enough stuff is different that it is its own car, rather than a 2-door Corsica.
Not true. My Grandparents had a silver one. I learned to drive stick in it.
Some of us like to grind it in our teeth in the morning. A couple of coffee beans with a pinch of methamphetamine will perk you up. Or, add some coffee grounds to a bottle of Coca-Cola. It’s the only cola with real cocaine inside!
EB is a different car, but OK. :/ You are correct that if you go to the Mustang6g forum there are more than a handful of people who bought an EB and ended up trading for a GT. But lots of us love our EBs. Yeah, it doesn’t have as much power or the rumble, but there’s about a $6k price difference, it’s lighter up front…
