My favourite summer potluck salad is also Ina’s! (I linked via smittenkitchen, but Deb credits our goddess clearly). When you need to feed a bunch of people and you want it to hit that sweet spot of non-threatening to picky eaters but really, really, get-uncivilized tasty, Ina is the queen.

I don’t understand the dislike of mayonnaise. Like, it has been explained to me that it’s a visceral thing and sure, fine, but people are really fucking extra about how much they hate it. I should probably bow out of this comment section now, haha.

Karamo gets to me a little in the way he’s edited because it feels very therapy 101 sometimes. I feel pretty certain that he’s genuinely helpful behind the scenes, given a LOT more time, but it’s hard to edit those conversations for a coherent TV narrative that also leaves time for the tasks the other 4 hosts are

That second paragraph of yours is what I’m talking about re: my annoyance. I agree that it does make sense a lot of the time to give a novice cook something simple.....but not every person on the show is a novice cook. Leo the bartender was bringing home pub food from work because he was tired and it was there, not

I got a bit annoyed with Antoni in the Season 2 episode with Leo, the bartender. It really showed the edges of the schtick Antoni does, because Leo gave off the impression of being a pretty decent cook. For a lot of the more clueless makeover subjects, giving them something ‘really fresh, really simple’ makes sense,

I love that description. Need more fierce, kind, shady basics in my life lately.

I’ve tried a bunch of all of the new types. Very, very into the ‘juicy’ New England style, but not at all in love with the milkshake ones, nor the bruts. The milkshakes....adding lactose to beer is rude to those of us who are lactose intolerant, haha, and I don’t find them delicious enough to pop a lactase pill. The

I was skim reading and had to go back to double check that I read that right. Not what I was expecting in this context.

She was on the Toronto radio stations a minute before fully hitting the mainstream....she was this super-young cutie from the suburbs with a great voice and that great first single (“Here”) and I 100% believed it.

I feel like a person’s preference for döner vs. shawarma comes down to which they tried first. Shawarma was my first love, so from that perspective, it’s döner that doesn’t taste quiiiiite as good to me. I have also learned in my travels that the style of white garlic sauce that all the shops in my uni town had was

I went to university in a city that had a shawarma shop on what felt like every block. It wasn’t until I moved away that I realized how fucking spoiled I was to come into legal drinking age in such a mecca of drunk food. It is not exactly the same as kebab, but it’s pretty similar overall, and I stand with you in the

I’m pretty new to working out at a gym and I. SWEAT. SO. MUCH. I didn’t realize I had this capacity (used to play outdoor sports + cycling and I guess I was in better shape before? idk) and I feel a little weird about it but also, I feel great and I’m working hard?

His apparent discomfort with the attention / his accent made me so happy, just looking at him I was like ‘awww my people!’ Jussi-Pekka is a GREAT Finnish name.

AHHHH the chip bowls! I feel you. I also 100% hear you re: the lunch being the way to spot the first years.

They were from Zara two summers ago, so they’re not available anymore. I will say though that I’ve bought heels at various price points and I always find myself wearing the couple of Zara pairs I have (I look at the materials and only buy ones that are real leather/suede)....so see what they’ve got now, maybe?

Justin in the still lol

Been eyeballing these for a minute....I can’t fuck with Converse anymore, they remind me too much of teen me, but these are juuuuuust upgraded enough.

I’m with you! I wear Vans most days (all-black Authentic, thanks for asking) but I LOVE a 2" block heel. My best wedding-guest shoes are a 3.5" block heel and I can dance all night in those. Kinda can’t wait until I’m working a job where it’ll make sense to wear them more often.

My department does a more standard fruit tray (watermelon, honeydew, pineapple, grapes) and while they’re not as special as the fruits you’ve listed I’m generally not mad at it.
