More and more, nobody wants the sad seminar cookies at my work and there are tons left over. They’re seriously sad, we’re grad students, if it’s free it should be GONE but these cookies get left behind. For the bigger events in my dept, they’re starting to spring for fruit trays. Not mad at this as a development.

I have an acquaintance who’s in his late 20's who recently had the first symptoms of gout (I guess it hurts that joint at the base of your big toe first?) As far as I can tell, he eats a pretty average diet, but he’s in the craft brewing industry - alcohol affects the metabolism of uric acid, and those dudes have

Literally read this and said aloud to my (vegetarian) partner - ‘I think I’m going to start a policy of only eating Canadian meat’. Hard to avoid eating American produce, up here. :(

I had just converted over to her tattoo liner too. I hate the packaging and the name ‘tattoo liner’ but frig it was a good product. I’ve heard the Stila one is also good, guess I’m on the lookout again.

You don’t remember the ubiquitous ‘buck a beer’ radio commercials? Tempted to sing it in my office - ‘MAKE’r a LAKE’r, it’s A BUCK a BEER’. (For one brand’s example.)

Hahaha what? There was never a “Progressist” Party. On the federal level, there was absolutely a merger between the Conservative Party and the Reform Party but that’s not where the name came from.

“Progressive Conservative” is just the name of the party. They’re our “Republicans”.

It’s not exclusively Swedish, they use Finnish words sometimes as names and it always tickles me. They’re kind of arbitrary though: my favourite plant pots are named after cardamom, the spice? IDK, it’s not like there’s anything else Nordic in the mainstream sphere, I’ll take it.

I posted about the rotary Ribfests too!! THEY ARE THE BEST. It is not a proper summer without getting meat drunk at least once.

There was an Oysterfest each summer in the city where I went to university that was by all accounts excellent, but I always always had to work? :(

Heyyy if you grab that product BEWARE - they are NOT JOKING about the ‘super stay’ part. They are super duper pigmented and they do. not. come. off. Like multiple attempts with every kind of remover I had before trying a couple of rounds of vaseline, that persistent.

Last year I really liked a playlist Spotify made of the women headlining SXSW, kind of a cross-section of up and coming artists across a lot of genres. I just went looking for this year’s version......turns out they didn’t make another, and I’m literally the only person who ‘followed’ the first one. Frig, that’s

Thank you! I have never watched this show consistently, only in the background while former roommates watched. From this, I knew:
1. Kyle MacLachlan was on the show for awhile (but not which lady he dated? Charlotte I guess, based on this thread.)
2. LITERALLY EVERYONE ON THE SHOW IS THE FUCKING WORST.

OH IS THAT WHAT IT IS. I’ve left so many threads dangling for the past few days and have been feeling weird about it.

Is not knowing the same as “no”?

Bit of column A, bit of column B. The twist on A that makes it annoying is that I’ve gotten a few ‘oh hey, that’s a nice new ring’, full stop, no further discussion. I’ve been with manfriend 6 years and it’s on the socially designated finger. It should not be mysterious why it has appeared.

I’m also recently engaged, and my ring is perfect for me, but my godddd do other people’s reactions eventually become a buzzkill. It’s 3 small, light green tourmalines and a diamond on a very thin gold band (I just looked it up, they’re 0.03 karat.) I have to wear thin nitrile gloves at work. I don’t want to be taking

I had to think for a minute to remember the last time I used a plastic straw. (I got a milkshake last summer! It was very good.)

I don’t really like any gin with orange juice, is there one you’d recommend? Baby me liked gin/lemonade and gin/grapefruit (lime is already certified classic) but I don’t know why orange can’t hang with its citrus brethren in this regard.

It is also available/relatively cheap at Jamaican/Caribbean stores - at those it’s usually labelled ‘sorrel’.
