I feel like there is a sizeable contingent missing the point. This isn’t the important lesson it took you till adulthood to learn e.g. “I learned to stop taking myself so seriously,” or whatever. This is the simple thing you somehow missed in spite of it being right in front of your face. It’s that thing where you

Give up the fight on begging the question. Meanings change constantly, and it’s one thing when usage is about 50/50 and you are trying to keep people informed so things stay clear, but this gets used “wrongly,” so much more often than it gets used right.

I have bipolar disorder, and I’ve never been super bothered by people misusing it online (though that doesn’t mean you should do it, just because it doesn’t bother me doesn’t mean it isn’t harmful to others, don’t use me the way they use their “black friend who doesn’t mind racist jokes.”), but what drives me a little

Thank goodness the farmers almanac has been repeatedly shown to be absolutely useless for predicting anything.

Good list overall.

If you use lithium grease, make sure it is rated down to the temperature you are going to need. Many of them will gum up on truly cold days. It will say on the can what temperature yours is capable of functioning at. Trust that number.

Almost all squeaky floors are caused by the subflooring lifting slightly from the joists so that when you walk over it the nails push in and out of their holes. Soap in the cracks is not going to help that even a little, it’s not even going to reach where the squeak is, but on the upside you’ll have moist soap jammed

Humidifier is 90% of this battle. The rest of the others are barely worth doing if you aren’t at least trying to fix the root problem.

Excellent point.

That sure is a fancy strawman you built there.

Little mini trick I’ve learned over the years is to always at least do a back of the envelope calculation on things like hourly pay and actual percentages saved.

There’s a serious issue with how we handle grading in this country which is ludicrously racist and classist. Grades and GPAs are structured to reward certain groups over others and it really needs to be stopped.

So, I totally can’t tell if you are making a point about the US not having a national religion or if you are honestly asking, but it’s the US.

Man, if that paragraph didn’t demonstrate that the people not wanting kids on the streets aren’t the awful ones I don’t know what will.

Agreed. We’re basically the same age and I feel like I’ve heard the word before but couldn’t have told you what it meant.

It’s usually not worth “coming out.” The people that are worth having in your lives don’t really need you to come out because they aren’t going to be pushing things on you. If you have to confront someone with a big coming out moment about not believing something they believe, find someone else to hang with.

I never proselytize, but in this wacky Christian country I sure do end up having a lot of conversations about religion.

Right, I’m sure your neighbor is bringing her kids up with a solid understanding of Thor and Ganesha so that when they grow up they can make their own decisions.

Yeah, maybe I’m getting old and, and lets face it I was always uncool, but damn is it annoying when people are running around on the streets at night in dark clothing.

Frankly, a kid legitimately in the street on a sunny day with great visibility is still a damned bad idea. “Letting your kid paly in the street,” is plenty annoying. Teach your kids not to get in the street, simple as that. Again, it’d be life ruining for me and I’d still be getting off easiest of the group if I
