I must respectfully, slightly disagree. I want the cheese as close to my taste buds as practicable. Cheese on bottom, veggies (if we must) on top.
“Eagles Nest, requesting immediate takedown of user OxygenFiend! The fox is in the hen house!“
Seems like it’s a UFO to you... Sounds like you don’t know shit about them...
Only the riskiest contracts are cost plus these days... Govt is trying to kill that contract type even if it costs them more money (!).
Firmed fixed price is frequently the standard terms these days. Build X things for Y dollars. However, requirements change and funding gets added. This can happen due to the government’s ignorance or the contractor’s maneuvering to recoup costs (there’s always something that *looks* like a change if no one will risk…
This is a supremely stupid reading of actual problems.
This is clearly Mark Richt’s finest contribution to society. Masterful.
Come now super-parent, we all get to a point when we’re not using our best reasoning abilities with the kiddos...
Yes! I’m surprised more people don’t refrigerate their leftover coffee from the drip machine. Wife and I drink half a pot cold, stick the pot in the fridge, and finish it the next day. Tastes darn good if I make it strong (as coffee should always be made).
Everything is proceeding as planned...only a matter of time before:
Of course baby is crying! She sees mom winning the upcoming custody battle over hero-Dad!
Old houses, yes. Not sure when it went out of style. My neighborhood has it from early 30s.
Fair point, but the Comet was a 1940s aircraft - a ton was learned about fatigue in just a few years around that time. The B-52 did pretty darn well on design life promises, with some exceptions that got retired or upgraded.
Another factor in these bombers long life is change in posture. These bombers were designed for a life of constantly patrolling up north, ready to attack or counterattack. The sortie rate is now much lower than cold war era, so the bombers accrue their flight hours much slower...
Agreed BUT, it was interesting to see the first pitch way inside and the catcher muffed it...universal sign of a pitch doing something unexpected, like not hitting a dude.
Definitely the right source to cite, so I’m agreed on the assessment. The most important point to cite is the timeframe. That report used a data point from April 2016. A lot of improvement has taken place in that time. This is the reality for ambitious new technology.
Still do...
I worked in the DOD and we’d always add “pick any two, and we’ll decide which one you get”. We were so fucking clever when talking about wasting tax dollars...
EMALS system reliability is quite good at this point with thousands of launches complete and a near 100% reliability...sure it’s had issues and will continue to have issues. And engineers will keep solving them just like they still do with steam catapults. It is pretty false to say EMALS “isn’t working” at this point…
