Here’s an alternative view: this policeman has a position with a lot of power (e.g. the ability to arrest) and he used this power illegally to cover up one of his illegal and potentially deadly mistakes. He should be arrested, punished, and blacklisted from working in this industry for life.

Imma let you finish but, nope. Metroidvania is a genre and if you have to explain the word then so be it. At some point you have to explain words to people who are unfamiliar with them, like RPG or any of its derivatives.

I think the argument here isn’t about how it’s wrong to critique a writer, it’s how unfortunately and resolutely you’ve misjudged the writer’s intent, and just as resolutely blamed that misjudgment on the writer instead of the possibility of an accidental miscomprehension.
