Dang, are people on the coasts really that ignorant about "fly over country?" You can get 300 MB/second internet in Minot, North Dakota, for crying out loud (and I'm not speaking theoretically; I know people who DO). High-speed internet service is doubtless ubiquitous, across the Land of Lincoln. Or nearly

Its possible very young, ostensibly "nerdy"-type women are into into torrents, but the for the most part, I tend to doubt it. Women don't torrent stuff themselves, so much as they inform their spouse equivalent (or some other guy) of which titles they would like to acquire.

I sometimes exclaim "Great Caesar's Ghost!" Its a lot more effective in invoking a sense of surprise/shock/amazement than the pedestrian "F-bomb."

The woman who plays "Nora" is gorgeous, a real beauty. But rather in spite of her flat chest.

None of the teenagers I know even do drugs. When I was a teenager, I didn't now any teenagers who DIDN'T do drugs. And I have reason to believe they're not just successfully concealing the fact from me. They're a different breed these days. Not necessarily better or worse, but…different.

I get the impression these Millennials (particularly the younger ones ie., today's teenagers) don't use drugs & alcohol to the extent my generation did (born: 1970). I'm not stating that as some sort of fact, and I may well be wrong, but it sure does seem that way to me, based on what I've been able to observe.

Well, she DID get her start in modeling, so…

He's a failed parent, because his 23-year old son no longer lives at home?

I hate to trample on any of the cherished stereotypes you presumably utilize in order to bolster your doubtless unwarranted self-esteem, but as a right-wing Christian in South Dakota, I think you may not understand the criticism directed at this sort of conventional swearing. You see, ever since about 1985 or so,

The guy's having a hard time. If he were a real person, rather than a TV character, you'd be expected to understand that. So why not pretend he's real?

She'd be a terrible character…but I'm afraid she's just a little too hot to be rated as such.

"And even with Eph gathering proof of the very real threat in this episode, nobody treats it as such, more concerned with the fact that Eph moved the body of Captain Redfern and it got caught on camera. Seeing footage of a real life vampire isn’t as important as footage of moving a dead body in The Strain’s universe.

Sieg…heil?

Yes, and they probably are bad. But I was just irked that someone would draw that conclusion based on something so trivial as an imperfect depiction of OCD. In fairness, I'm easily irked (and I'm also bored while at work).

I suspect you're using "rational" as an extremely rude synonym for Atheist, but its actually quite amusing the way the phrase "rational woman" sounds intensely misogynistic (as if a woman who isn't irrational is some sort of statistical anomaly, LOL).

If I went to Nigeria, and complained about all the Black people, I'd be a fruitcake of some sort. I'm inclined to argue that it works both ways.

In fairness, we don't know how those people disappeared. The show generally seems to present the idea in a sort of "magical"/Divine context, but all we KNOW is that the people are gone in a manner that is thus far totally inexplicable. There remain many possibilities.

"The Leftovers is demonstrably stronger when it plunges into someone’s personal life and just follows them around for a few days in this post-apocalyptic landscape of loss and survival…"

Yes, a minor flaw in the manner of describing a tertiary character, is invariably an indication an entire book is "really shit," as you so elegantly phrased it.

I found it simply hilarious that the world's most elite hacker (just typing that phrase makes me feel like a douche), is a conventionally attractive, slender young blonde woman. I mean…really? I suppose that's slightly more likely than my winning the state lottery twice in one month, albeit not by much.
