Oh no, they would be paid extra. They are paid by the hour. The producer may have hired them for a certain number of hours, but if the job goes longer they are paid for those hours. You don’t contract with union workers and then tell them they’re not being paid to work extra hours for no pay. They would walk off.
I used to work for the stagehands union. If you work on a holiday you start at time and a half and go to double time after 8 hours. Not sure what the current hourly rate but 15 years ago when I worked for them a gig like this would start about $20/hour and last 12 hours. So there was no lack of volunteers to work this…
