I’d grant you that, but the girl’s dead mother looked just as messed up as the ghosts that had been dead for 20 years or more. Plus, there’s the fact that ghosts didn’t seem to have a concept of time (the dead mom knew things that wouldn’t happen for over a decade, and the sibling’s dead mom acted as if she just died…
I loved Crimson Peak overall, but I did have one minor complaint: Every ghost in the film was hideous, disturbing, distended, and inhuman ... every ghost except Thomas. It really drives me nuts when a movie universe establishes the rules (in this case, that ever ghost is freaky, even Edith’s apparently benevolent…
The Tarzan series has some great moments, an epic origin, intense romance, and amazing battles. But if you took out the outdated racism and the redundancy (Tarzan has to have three major ape fights before he becomes lord of the apes?), the story would be palatable to modern audiences.
Ah, but see the fun part about the Bone Gnawers is that they are the underdogs. What fun is being the best fighter, the best spirit medium or magic user, or the best leader? The challenge is being the scruffy guy who has to fight his way up the totem pole.
My cat likes pretending she’s a Dalek.

Similarly, I made a Zelda II stage that is meant to be explored.
(I’m sorry. I saw a really amazing, very surreal short that had no real story to speak of, but was still worth watching - then I thought about what happened to another such short, which shall remain nameless out of deference to its creator.)
Aw, I love these little videos, I just wish they all had the same tags... some are listed as “shorts” (like this one), some as “short films,” some as “short film” and some as “animation.” I use them often in school, so it’d be handy if they were on the same tag.
I still have flashbacks... the horror... the horror...
Heck with it, here’s my third worst gaming experience.
So, I’m getting that a lot of us were just too polite to run screaming into the night after a horrible session...
So much nuts.
By the way, my second worst experience was also my first experience. When I was about 13-or-so, I was living briefly in a small town, and tried to make friends with the local nerds. My people, I thought.
I’m sorry, but I just can’t forget it.
I’ll never be cruel to a gin and tonic again!
Posted this over on Kotaku, but as I’m sadly still grey there...
I bought my Virtual Boy at a going-out-of-business Toys ‘R’ Us for a penny (it showed up that way in the register and the clerk was like, “sure, why not?”). Honestly, I do love the games on it, but no, I couldn’t put my head in that vice for any extended periods, and what fun is a game if I can’t share it with others?
