Willrow Hood?
Good choice, but I’m going to go with Jose Chung’s From Outer Space. It has everything you could want from The X-Files. It’s an alien episode without being “mythology”. It’s basically a monster of the week. It’s got the quirky humor that features in all of the best episodes and it features Alex Trebek and Jesse…
Okay, but what happened to Dr. Strange’s gloves from Ragnarok? They were perfect. Straight from the comics and they highlight his hands, which are obviously his main “thing”, visually.
Plus a) in Infinity Gauntlet #1, Death herself says she wants half the universe dead to correct the cosmic imbalance, so MCU just cut out the middle (wo)man, and b) in The Avengers’ stinger the Chitauri dude tells Thanos that going up against the Avengers is “to court Death”. Literally in Thanos’ case.
I missed him, but in the credits I saw “Character from Arrested Development appears courtesy of etc.” and had to Google it.
“So pop out the lammas bread (yes, I know, wrong movies, please you don’t have to tell me)“
I only get this because the movie was on literally last night. But you get a star.
That felt like one of the main selling points of Sleepy Hollow. The whole show was just monsters of the week (plus the fish out of water, awesome chemistry of Nicole Beharie and Tom Mison). It was likewise undone by trying to create its own overblown mythology (at which it failed spectacularly).
Let’s keep our aphorisms straight here. This is more of a “biting the hand that feeds you” situation.
Is this where you want to make your stand?
First time Shuri saw a Dole Whip “What are thooooose?”
I enjoyed the style of the episode, even if the plot itself was pretty on-the-nose.
If only there were some precedent against which to compare this situation...
Totally fine with the gender swap. I just wish that instead of a new character, they used Patsy, the girl from the Bulldog Diner in the movie. Also, agree with everyone else about rather having a movie sequel, preferably with JJ returning to direct. Prolly still check it out though...with my seven year old, I mean...
Killmonger is definitely a more complex character than T’Challa for most of the movie, but he’s a great villain because he makes the hero better. T’Challa learns from Killmonger, and while he doesn’t agree with his methods, he comes to understand and agree to a certain extent with Killmonger’s motivation.
Not to be pedantic (too late), but he did that in Civil War with his glove in a watch.
10/10 Would watch.
I comprehend what you are trying to say and I disagree with what you are insinuating, but the answer is yes. People would still say that. This movie diverges significantly from the Marvel formula and asks questions which give it a thematic weight which is often lacking in Marvel movies.
In the course of reading some extremist manifestos (for my MA coursework, not for fun) I noticed that you can tell the extent of a person’s racism by their use of capitalization. Like in some of these tweets/FB posts. Notice how some of them capitalize “Black(s)“ but not “white(s)“? That’s kind of racist. If they were…
