Lol, I PROMISE you most of the people eating their placentas in this country are not poor. They’re the middle- and upper-middle class and wealthy who go full expensive granola on their childbirth process.

In the birth canal. It is by no stretch of the imagination sterile.
Hippies gonna hippie.
hippie bullshit
Not going to lie, I don’t understand you people at all. At all. At all.
In my culture (I’m Ojibwe), you cure the placenta in tobacco and hang it in a special bag over your child’s bed. They’re supposed to keep it with them for their whole life, as a bit of maternal protection to ward off bad spirits while sleeping.
<puts down fork>
Basically; its the perception that the establishment is corrupt and cannot be trusted - an easy sell when there are examples of medical professionals being biased after being funded by one company or another and/or doctors getting paid to promote shit.
Its the same reason people voted for Trump...
Hon, you are anti-science. Own it.
That was great! Here’s my unsolicited placenta story:
Maybe the actual questions is why eating the placenta was not a common behavior in humans until the past few years, yet somehow you are pretending it’s perfectly normal. Isn’t it more important to question why human mothers stopped eating placentae thousands, if not millions, of years ago?
Science is more than a body of knowledge; it is a way of thinking. I have a foreboding of an America in my children’s or grandchildren’s time—when the United States is a service and information economy; when nearly all the key manufacturing industries have slipped away to other countries; when awesome…
Eating medical waste can be harmful? Who could have possibly imagined that?!
And I am HERE FOR IT.
As a kid I was told “If something comes out of your body, don’t put it back in! Your body threw it out for a reason.” This was said to keep me from eating boogers, but it can be applied universally. “If it comes out of one end, don’t put it into another.”
Unsolicited Placenta story.
Maybe they do. Animals die a lot, newborns especially so.
Because natural = good and science = bad.
WHY IS THIS EVEN A THING??!!!
Why are people so suspicious of mainstream, accepted medical advice and care but so willing to plunge, unexamined, into unproven homeopathic treatments?
