This was AWESOME! Thank you! I really like seeing creatives featured in this series. Sending positive reinforcement vibes your way to please feature more creative professionals in "This Is How I Work."

I agree, but frankly, who cares? People are stupid and many of them suck, but a safer car is a safer car. Of course no vehicle could ever be perfectly safe, but having that as a goal is awesome.

It also sounds like a more "holistic" approach to vehicle safety. Real life accidents don't always mimic the specific testing environments many companies use and the safety regulations dictate. I'd rather have a car that's just generally safer in a wider range of situations than one that's shown to be exceptionally

Interesting perspective on the impact (no pun intended) of sturdier Volvos on other less sturdy cars involved in accidents with them. Hopefully other companies bring up their own safety standards too. Better that than everyone working from the same least common safety denominator.

I disagree. I think if they maintain the style they've been known for build further distinguish their brand's safety record, that would really drive sales. I know many people (yes, many) who've purchased Volvos over the years solely because of their reputation for safety.

If there's electromagnetics at work here, perhaps it could adjust its own polarity to affix itself to the aircraft.

Ruin it for whom? You or me? Because this article was a blast. No way this kind of thing ruins anything for me. :)

No anti-gravity tech in the SW universe? I think that's much too bold a statement to make based on the evidence. Perhaps of a scale necessary to move a few hundred or thousand pound pod racer, but perhaps not to lift a droid's 5-pound head an inch.

Just very moved by this post and the comments. I absolutely agree that there is no right way to grieve. Whatever it takes to get through it is what I say.

"So what you've got is actually four different services." See, there's the problem right there. Just. Too. Complicated. Sometimes it seems like they're just throwing new things against the wall to see what sticks. Where's the long-term strategy? If it takes 10 paragraphs to explain the basic premise of a music service

Or even better, when co-workers wanted to go to lunch mostly just to talk about a project at work. Yeah...I'll go to lunch with you if we can talk about The Walking Dead. Otherwise, no, I'll eat alone.

Wow, Brian, did we actually just have a civil exchange of ideas on the Internet?? Holy crap, I'm not sure if that's ever happened before in the history of the world.

"I have to strongly disagree with the 'dental insurance can cost you more' silliness,"

Depending on your industry you may literally need them. For apparel, for instance, to attend sourcing trade shows, like where retail stores buy the clothes that appear in their stores, you need to provide a business license, sometimes a resale certificate from your state, and the attendees also need to have their own

I commented elsewhere on this thread about my neighbor's pit bull. She's taken the dog to at least three different lengthy training and behavior classes. Hasn't made a lick of difference. I've been nipped by that dog four times. Once broke the skin. At the size it is now, the next bite will break bones.

Most people don't fear for their life if they pass a ferocious chihuaua.

I feel for you. I was bitten four times by a neighbor's pitbull terrier, three of those times while it was a pup and couldn't cause much damage. The last time it "nipped" me, it tore through the sleeve of my jacket and broke the skin. I didn't need stitches but later found out that I should have gone to the hospital

Banned isn't the right word in this case. "Not covered" is better. This is just an exclusion from coverage, same as every other exclusion in an insurance company contract.

Worst. Sliced. Bread. Ever.

Except that that's not exactly how it works. Mind you, I'm a Catholic, went to Catholic school, the whole shebang. It's my religion, but when you can admit to murder, say, and get a few hundred or thousand Our Fathers, or admit to cursing at your mom and get 10, there's a fundamental flaw with the objectivity there.
