If you want to dive waaaay deep into the Costuming as Plot Device rabbit hole, check out the Mad Style column at tomandlorenzo.com — it’s pretty amazing.

Yeeeeeeeaaah, I don’t think I’d be giving it any real information. Last thing I want to do is accidentally sign up for a cult. My parents might be pissed.

I do wonder that! The Pastebin coming from the developer, I mean.

How did they determine the game doesn’t do anything with your name and address that you provide it at the end? That’s some freaky-ass shit, though.

I do think some people made this decision, hence why some threads seemed to just die abruptly mid investigation. Good luck!

They shall now find you.

Well by sharing it on pastebin, they disobeyed the game. Maybe there's more stuff that would happen if you don't talk about it online. I'm gonna give it a shot, but won't report back.

Dafuq?

I’m not surprised I didn’t crack this. The first thing I did was share it on a website, and the game clearly told me not to make this information public.

Well, maybe now I can be famous making simplistic but deceptively cryptic games in RPG Maker VX and get featured on gaming websites!

I worked in the game industry (for the ill-fated THQ no less) and I can attest that everything in this article is true. Everyone that isn’t c-level management is pressured into working 12+ hours days for months on end, all for substandard pay and a pink slip when the product ships. Is there a worse word for

I interviewed with Riot a couple years back for a position in accounting/finance. They told me they routinely worked 60 hours a week but had a “work hard, play hard” attitude, which is basically just shitty workplace code for “you’re gonna regret this when you’re hating your life in two months.”

My very first game testing job was for a AAA title that was already getting into a big crunch. But I was okay with it, since it got me in a new industry, paid better than the job I had, and got me away from retail forever.

IMO, the problem lies in the law. Used to be, there were only a handful of professions exempt from overtime pay. As the years went on, corporations lobbied for more and more professions to be made exempt, and the government’s been all-to-happy to oblige them. Just because you are salary does not automatically make you

I know people will hate this, but is this potentially why Free-To-Play is becoming so appealing to developers? Instead of making a complete finished title and crunching/cutting features, you make a minimum viable product that you can patch over time? Especially since in those models the money is gradual flow over time

I work independently as part of an indie game developer, and this kind of stuff is why I don’t really want to move into anything bigger. We crunch sometimes, but really only when we run out of money (which happens more often than we’d like to admit).

I created this account, so I could comment anonymously. If this ever gets tied back to me, I would be in serious trouble. In any case, the ‘rumor’ is absolutely true. He had an affair with a MARRIED intern on set. They made no effort to hide anything, and the intern flaunted it in the face of the other interns/staff.
