Never thought of it that way. Makes sense. Makes me think that they did this so that the lightning connector would be new with the release of the iPhone 5 so that it wouldnt seem unimpressive.

They couldn't have one of their flagship devices using the now antiquated 30-pin connector. They saved themselves some hassle by not making some sort of in-between updates device and went with a spec bump on it as well. Simple as that.

After you hit send I think you can hold the message that you are sending and the options copy and send as text message pop up. Or at least they did for me when I tried sending an iMessage to my cousin who wasn't connected to wifi and had their data off. I imagine it would work the same.

I remember discovering this as a kid. I had a video camera hooked up to the tv and I turned the volume down on the tv and was shocked to see the remote light up. I. Was. Amazed.

I set mine so that when I say "Voice Control" it launches voice controls. I could do this for hours...

@MonsterManX: I think when he said trade offs he was referring to the 3ds. As in the 3ds made trade offs to have 3d.
