I really want to be the type of person to have “Polka King of the Midwest” on my businesscard.

As a huge huge HP fan....I hated it. It’s on my shelf but only partially read because I couldn’t get through it.
At first I thought it was just because it was in script form and I couldn’t get used to it...then I realized it’s because it’s written like a really bad Fan Fiction for some reason.
I thought it was going to be awful but it’s not even COMPARABLE to the original. It’s a different animal completely, it has a whole different heart. It’s something beautiful rather than just entertainment.
My favourite moments, the ones that let you know that, while most reality TV shows are waaaay more scripted than you think they are.....this has got some realness to it.
The moment when you see the larger, bearded fella in the suit, looking in the mirror....that little turn, the drop of his shoulders, and the content…
I legit cried at almost every episode of the first season and now I’m leaking at the damn TRAILER GODDAMNIT ITS SO GOOD
that’s not Kat, to be fair.
yehhhhnot so sure why we’re all so surprised or heartbroken over this.
Or maybe it’s because every damn article starts with her asking a goddamn stupid question
I LOVE THIS SHOW but ggoddaaamnit did not age well and Carrie is the worst.
The minute he brought Jesus into it, it became more than just refusing service (which is his right). But he done goofed on thart.
True. Sometimes you just need that pick me up. I find myself looking up feel good, mushy videos online more and more recently. Like soldiers coming home to surprise families, or people rescuing animals, or people meeting their heroes for the first time. Otherwise I feel like I’m gonna lose it.
Sorry if I came off as…
I already posted that in my original comment, but thanks. I’m well aware.
Most of his sponsors have dropped him.
oh man, bullying is a CRAZY problem in most leagues that I know of. I’ve been victim of it as well. Part of the reason I left my league.
But I’d rather be bullied or have bitchy teammates than be sexually assaulted. Not that either are okay.
ppThere are plent of male players that I admire and really like as people. But as I said upthread, the whole reason derby appealed to me was because it was a safe space for women.
I meant the re-incarnation of new derby, that started back in 2004 in Texas. Most if not all leagues that started out were women only. Something that drew me to the sport in the first place; a space for women.
Where the heck have you been!?
“Roller derby is probably one of the last places you’d expect to see a textbook example of #MeToo.”
YEh the minute it became co-ed, this should no longer have been a surprise. (Obviously still something that happened even when women only, but I’m willing to bet exponentially less so)
Sorry not sorry, I have conflicting…
I love this story so much.
It was so out of place that I legitimately thought someone had made a really good fan trailer that unfortunately missed the mark....also because everything else about it was just kinda...underwhelming
