You just don't get it. Tinkering with your own stuff has never been wrong. People do this all the time, and have been for decades, on their on PC's and no blinks. Do it on a portable console and people that just don't get it get emotional because they immediately see tinkering and piracy as synonymous when that simply

If you really believe this then you are one of the many that think Freedom of Speech means "can say anything" and doesn't know what the actual provision for Free Speech entails.

You know what?

No, left stick aiming or just use the lock on function and cycle targets with the right stick.

Amen on every point. And they don't know about fLoE or they wouldn't have run this article like this. And if they did know and still had the audacity to post it while complaining about "harassment"..well...need I even say more?

No, it's not. And that's exactly my point. Negative press seems to be the only press Kotaku is willing to give the fighting game scene. The last few years have been GREAT for fighting games with a lot of quality titles coming out (where as fighting games had a bit of a drought for a good number of years), lots of high

So this is what it takes to get some consistent fighting game related coverage on Kotaku (and other places)? Perhaps the controversy isn't entirely without merit then if this kind of debacle proves to be the most effective way of getting coverage. And right now it's proving just that.

Mission start.

Exactly. If the man wasn't being successful this wouldn't be coming up at all and no one from anywhere other than the US would be claiming him. Need to know "what" he is? Check his citizenship before becoming famous...

Yes...Blacker. Now there's a very important selling point. :D

A lot of people will complain and explain from the outside in how "it's so simple" (many with no programming experience, just read below drivel about UE3) but you know what? I give 'em a high five. Not too many will frankly state that something is outside of their realm or expertise. Kudos for being upfront with that

I remember those days, miss 'em too. I think as consumers we're suffering because of 1) piracy and 2) publishers would love to remove control from the end user anyway. Same as how they deactivate the online portion of sports games when the next one releases? They'd love that kind of control over other genres to boost

"It's funny to me that with all the brouhaha about piracy and protecting intellectual property, the only games you actually own are pirated copies. Cracked and separated from their client services (Steam, Origin, whatnot) these versions will always work and you can't be banned from ownership."

Could be. I know I signed up for the gun club (IIRC it was also Bad Company 2 or Crysis 2) and their ads are almost exactly how you described them. GUNS OVER HERE! SHOOT STUFF!! POW! :)

The only things I've gotten like that from EA have been specifically from the gun club. Did you sign up for the gun club in one of their shooters?

In an ideal world product competition would take place strictly in the market and not through these patent wars...in an ideal world. On many levels, this stuff is bordering on silly from all of the parties involved.

LOL, +1 internets to you.

Just because it is sold from Origin doesn't mean it requires Origin to run or will have DRM included.

What are you talking about? These games are ALREADY sold from multiple different distributors. This is just adding one more store they are sold from. Not a big deal at all. If you don't like Origin then just buy them from another store as you have been.

Inspect Origin for yourself rather than repeating this often touted (and refuted) BS spyware claim. Also, if you're a PC gamer check that EULA against other software and services you likely already use (such as Steam). Should look awfully familiar....
