In the Boss 302, they had a similar regular key/TracKey, where the TracKey would unlock a special race tune for the ECU. Similar, although I don't think the power differentials were as big.

I fear that if FCA doesn't put a lot of R&D budget now into EVs and hybrids, they'll be caught and stuck when/if they go mainstream (beyond the 1% or whatever they're at now). Especially if they're just following the leaders (which I feel like they are, and doesn't seem like it will change anytime soon with this
