1. We are living in hell

2. Anytime ANYONE even uses the phrase “democratize” needs to be shamed. immediately. It’s dumb, it’s stupid, and especially in this context, is so goddamn gross.

And yes, I am expecting the avalanche of “Her” think pieces because oh man, “fucking your AI bot” is going to be the thing.

sigh.

I hear Ubisoft and Open world and all I can think of is “work.” I get some people like the “check list” approach to gaming, but man that shit bores the ever loving fuck out of me. I’m having a blast with ToTK precisely because it’s tricking me to believe that anything is possible as soon as I start my game,

Because when you have “all of the money” it no longer means anything. That high you get when you get a pay check? Who cares when you never have to worry about money ever again.

So the only thing that replicates that feeling is power and constant growth.

I’ve heard this being an issue in a wide range of industry. Someone I knew who worked for NYT were basically forced into managerial positions because there was no upwards mobility for the things they want to do. And they didn’t have the temperament to be a “boss.”

real talk:  You can like, even love, a game and also not think it’s the greatest thing since slice bread.

It’s almost as if making articles about the biggest game release to come out with—

Nah. Screw it.  Y’all just dumb.

Oh the coping is magnificent.

My brother in Ska!

I do think this is the double edge sword of Digital Foundry making some of this stuff accessible to the public.  On the one hand, it gives people another method to appraise video games.  On the other hand, it has created a strain of insufferable twits who thinks anything that isn’t running a perfect 60fps is broken

I’ve said this before and I’ll say it again: This Shit is the new “I only play mature games for mature gamers such as myself.”

Same here. Woke up at 8, had an hour to kill before I started work. Drove to the nearest Target, and I was first of like three other people waiting for the game.

And yup, got that Hip pack too.

They made it work.

You do remember the shitstorm that happened when Arkane announced that Redfall would have a 30 FPS cap, right?”

And none of that actually mattered because the game was still mid anyways. None of it mattered.

Differnet context.  And others have noted that the bigger issue with the Pokemon games are Game Freak’s tendencies to ship out several games in the span of a few years.

Here’s the problem: You keep thinking that if you keep throwing around “objectivity” that suddenly it will magically come true. And yet this review cycle and hype surrounding the game pretty much proves you wrong.

And considering that the standards for gaming in 2023 tends to be broken or unfinished, kinda another

But I’m getting “if only we add just one more lane to this highway, traffic will be solved!” vibes from this discourse.

That’s not what I’m reacting to. Of course context and expectations change throughout the years, and its been 6 years since both BOTW and the Switch hardware: of course I want new hardware. But I’m also willing to work with what I have, and if the game is wonderful, then the game is wonderful. Because that’s why I

Of course they will—this is how they cope. It can’t be that people genuinely enjoy Zelda games. Nah, it has to be journalists are bias and completely blind to how mid these games are. It can’t be people genuinely enjoy the Switch as a handheld/console hybrid and don’t really mind or care whether the game is playing

But Zelda stans gonna stan I guess.”
