I've certainly never seen any trade-in games, at least at my Target. The author and I live in the same area, though, so I must be oblivious or something.

I do somewhat assume that a person has played the game before, so I sometimes mention things that happen later in the story; however, I go pretty painstakingly through each scene and have a lot of screenshots, so maybe your first venture into the series won't be your final.
