Honestly, as you are a physician - image matters.

A lot of things don’t occur to most people =P

Get some cheap orange cones and practice on an empty street / parking lot?

The whole inclement weather thing is a really good point actually.

Let’s say your self-driving car works great, and you have it drive you around all through summer, spring, and fall.

Then winter comes. All the sensors are frozen over. You decide to just clear the windshield and hop in the drivers seat to take over.

I apologize for coming off as abrupt. I realize everything isnt black and white. My opinion on the matter is that if something is inconvenient, I try very hard to change.

Ba-dum tsh!

They all need bus passes

Better question.

First of all it’s part of the basic driving test. You have to pass this skill to get a license for crying out loud.

If more citations were issued for people who can’t keep it between the lines or parallel park, people who’s skills are poor at it, would get better in a real hurry. This just gives those people an excuse

My XC70 has only parking sensors and cameras and even with that I can feel my driver skills atrophying—whenever I step back into any other vehicle I realize that I can no longer rely on “waiting for the beep” when nosing into spaces which somewhat scares me. I don’t think autonomous parking really is a blessing when

In all honesty, what DO people want to do in their cars? Dont want to park it, dont want to buckle their seat belt (thank god that died in the 90s), dont want to look in their blind spots, dont want to turn their head around when reversing, dont want to have to turn on the wipers, dont want to even DRIVE the thing,

Yay for people randomly jumping out of cars (and waiting for their passengers/children, too) in the middle of the aisles and before their cars are actually parked.

I remember in high school kids were always worried that their parking test might include parallel parking. My response was to call them idiots and say they don’t deserve licences if they can’t park.

Auto-parking tech is one of the stupidest “solution in search of a problem” technologies on cars today.

There’s a good chance that autonomy that works in a pre-defined, pre-vetted sandbox is the best we ever get. Because that problem is indescribably easier than cars that will work on any road.

Note to haters of crew cab trucks: Get over it!

My crew cab truck is my only vehicle. I have little kids. You’re not allowed to just toss them in the bed these days. They have to be in car seats. It’s the law.

For a lot of people crew cab trucks cover everything they want and or need in a vehicle. Room inside for people and room in the bed for stuff plus towing ability. Add in ride height and ever-improving fuel economy (and the vast spaces we have in the US) there is little surprise why they sell so well. They are

Here’s a hint — our driverless future is more like 50 years away. No flying cars, no jetpacks.
