I think that’s the point of water constantly being sprayed on the road. Reduce the friction and cool the tires.

Because automakers enjoy pointless spitting contests and have the resources to participate, we get things like BMW’s…
The logic is more “people won’t live in garages if they’re open and exposed to the elements/onlookers” but it’s still a pretty boneheaded move even for HOA standards (which is saying something.)
In this week’s display of homeowners’ association idiocy, the Auburn Greens complex in Auburn, California is…
Jalopnik’s reverse boner for crossovers is baffling. I love cars as much as the next guy, but let’s face facts: a sedan is about the most impractical body style on the planet for general purpose use. Trunks are stupid as their tiny openings render them inconvenient when not utterly useless. Jalopnik loves wagons (as…
I assume that’s the “upper trim” model?
Personally, I prefer the base mode in that case, because the tach should be front and center!
The one thing that actually made me by a 2010 SHO was the cluster. It was ice blue. The engine and AWD helped a bit too. Anywho...the speedometer compressed all the speeds after 100mph in space that it took to go 0-20. Didn’t spend too much time in that range. Wish more cars would do the same.
Do you need the speed given twice?
or oil pressure and temp...all cars should be required to have Coolant and Oil temp as well as oil pressure - not that 98% of people driving would have any idea what they mean.
We’re in a strange era for instrument clusters and dashboards right now. It’s a transitional period, thanks to the…
I wonder what they did differently with the roads here in Phoenix— it regularly gets above 100ºF for like 2-3 months in the summer here, and I’ve never seen any roads melt.
Preach. Growing up in a suburb was a blast as a kid, and it’s comfortable and affordable as an adult. My kids have a yard to play in, I have a third stall in which to wrench on and detail my toy, and everything is within a 10 minute drive.
It’s just cool to bag on “soccer moms” because the jokes come easy I guess?
Nothing will ever get me to move back into the city. Worked in philly for 3 years and got tired of paying their extra income tax. I found a home and job in Delco and never looked back.
So the government contractor cheated on the material by not using the proper spec or the government was too stupid to spec the proper grade in the contract.
They should talk to the states of Arizona and Nevada and use those kinds of roads
2nd Gear - Counterpoint: Why do we all have to drive two box cars with terrible storage layouts? Why can’t I travel with my kids, wife AND dog all in the same car, at the same time? And why can’t I live in the suburbs, where I have a nice warm 2 car garage to park my cars in, without having to alternate sides of the…
There are asphalt mixes and binding technology that will withstand that heat. Other places in the world with extreme heat indexes can cope without their roads melting.
Any guesses on whether this was insured for $1,300,000?
2-3 hours can be a normal wait time even at hub airports.
I’ve always thought that animal names make fantastic car names. They’re visceral and evocative and loaded with…
