Why do people hate on mobile games so much? They’re still video games.

To be fair, the Kinja system just displayed your first post...sorry for the confusion.

Konami had every right to request the removal of the video. YouTube made the correct determination that the portions of the copyrighted works used in the video would be covered under fair use.

Basically, nothing to see here.

How’s the view down there at the bottom of the slippery slope? Enjoying your logical fallacy?

Those people are in breach of contract. The sanctions for violating their contract were likely spelled out in said contract. This should be of no surprise to anyone...and it’s not an issue for the general public.

There was video taken from some Konami games.

Considering McNally was cited in 2004 incident regarding altered equipment, the repeat offense cited could be THAT instead of the videotaping of signals.

Their business is more than just video games. They only “look evil” to people who don’t quite understand the business world. In those cases, it’s best to do what’s best for the company no matter what the uneducated might think. The people looking for and watching that video already have a negative perception of

I watched one 11 minute episode. Didn’t stick around for the second in the block.

It’s using the rules of the site in question. Sure, those rules are based in copyright law...but no legal challenge was started...so I’d hesitate to call it “using copyright law”.

Critical speech is one thing - rumor and gossip is another. Unsubstantiated claims don’t really fall under “critical speech”. The speech

Only to those who have a predilection to believing it in the first place. By taking it down, fewer people are exposed to it and the libel can be stemmed at the source.

Why not? It’s a tool that’s available to content owners. It’s quick and easy damage control. It’s the video creator’s fault for putting the copyrighted work in the video...that made it easy to hit with a takedown notice.

It’s like Ren & Stimpy back in the day. I thought it was awesome when I was in college...and my parents didn’t see the appeal. The same could be true for this show (and practically every other original work on Cartoon Network)...except I’m now in the position of my parents. :D

It’s sad when you see yourself getting old

That’s what I was saying - it’s fair use and will probably be allowed. However, fair use is an affirmative defense; it only comes into play when an action is taken. Therefore the copyright claim is filed, the video is removed, and now the video’s creator can defend it with a fair use affirmative defense. In the

As an attorney, I understand copyright law. There’s no obligation to take down every video that uses some of their copyrighted work - that should be obvious to anyone who has a scintilla of knowledge on the subject. However, it’s an easy way to get the undesirable work off of the service until the objection is filed

Konami has no obligation to tell ANYONE the internal workings of their company. In fact, they SHOULD NOT tell anyone what is going on behind the scenes. I wouldn’t want to work for a company that aired its dirty laundry like that.

I tried watching this once...and turned it off partway through. I just don’t see the appeal. Perhaps I’m too old to enjoy nonsense like this...

It used video of a copyrighted work. Sure, it can be defended under fair use (as it didn’t use too much of it), but that’s an affirmative defense that needs to be asserted and argued.

Konami’s in a no-win situation here - either they allow unsubstantiated allegations to promulgate online or they remove them and get

You’re welcome...you earned it, after all! Congrats!

I didn’t say that. I was saying that the opinion that the practice is “disgusting” is in the minority because of the sales of the season passes. If the majority of people thought that, then the sales wouldn’t be there and the practice would go away (like online passes did).

You’ve completely missed the point because
