I’m not a fan of jeeps, but I don’t see this as a bad thing. 21 mile range is fine for a lot of things. Plugging it in when you pull into your garage is not a huge hassle. And you get quite a bit more power and acceleration.

Pretty obvious its for people who want an off-roader that doesn’t get shit mileage.

The average American’s commute is 16 miles. My commute certainly falls in line with that. I could drive this to work, charge it there, drive it home, charge it there. On a long trip, it’s just another Jeep. On my daily commute that

its not a full BEV not a 75 MPG hybrid, so Jalopnik is going to throw an utter hissy fit.

Mileage tax would hit rural folks hard since running to the store might be a 30 mile round trip. Going to work might be 20 minutes, but be 25 miles away. But, someone has to pay to keep the roads cleared of snow and repair the potholes in the interstate. It could be seen as finally rural folks are paying their fair

2nd Gear: So you honestly have a problem with a company that by your own words helps stranded people? This has to be bait right? No one is this callous around the holidays.

Fair! The criticism of convertibles is valid when, from an engineering perspective, the vehicle is a conversion from a coupe/sedan chassis. At that point, there are inherent weight, handling, and rigidity compromises. Having recently become a Miata convert, I can attest that a ground-up convertible design drives like

Because not everyone worries about shaving 0.2 secs off their lap time at the two track days they go to each year. Modern convertibles (i.e., built this century) have more than enough capability to exceed every speed limit in the US, and handle any corner at inappropriate speeds.

That was nice to see, especially considering how utterly shameless that campaign was.

Silver linings.  You should write for Jalopnik.  It would be a more upbeat place.

It’s a ludicrous and unsustainable goal. California already has grid problems, with routine rolling blackouts during heat waves. How are they going to deal with that even with only 50% of their cars being all-electric. While you can physically build a nuclear power plant in five years, you’ll spend another five years

I call the big one Bitey

An old Sportster isn’t worth anywhere near this much, and I’m not seeing a lot in the build.

Now playing

Are you doing Spinal Tap? Because I really hope so.

The question is ‘How much lower can the bar be?’ The answer is ‘None. None more lower.’

?? Our economy is both broken and a surreal joke.

Each region has a type of car you can find there at a good price:

Lots of performance motors, but let’s be honest here. The most legendary engine of all time is probably the Toyota 5S-FE. The boring little ~130HP 2.2L 4-Cylinder fitted to tens of millions of Toyota Camrys.
