You are correct that I won’t like paying more at the pump, but I am not about to take out a loan on a more fuel efficient car just to stretch my gas budget, especially since my vehicle will be paid off in full.

I graduated with my Masters in 2010. Damn near no one was hiring at a decent job or a decent salary at that time, and I took the only job in my field that was offered to me just to pay the bills. That career did not end up working out, and after seven years of struggling, I am now going back to school for career numbe

First week of August, 2014. I was driving back to Arizona from South Carolina from my sister’s wedding. I stopped for the night outside Greenville, SC and started again early the next morning. Unfortunately, it was a very rainy morning in SC/NC/TN, and there was a miserable perfect storm of car accidents,

Jake Blues said it best.

I had a ‘98 that caught on fire while I was gassing up (fire was put out before anything really bad happened). I feel that it is my duty to warn the owner whenever I see one of these.

Too many issues for $12k. CP

I DD a 2011 Jeep Wrangler with a six-speed, and in most highway driving the 6th gear is practically useless. I used to live in the high desert and foothills of the Rockies, and I never used 6th gear on the interstate there, especially if there was a breath of wind going against me. I see your point, but the Nissan Versa starts at $12,100, and it is far from a piece of shit. I do think that car buyers demand more for their hard-earned dollars nowadays, and there is far more regulation over the entire industry today.

There are many overpriced cars, overly depreciating cars, and cars that will cause more headaches than others, but there is no Yugo, early Hyundai Excel, or 1980's converted diesel.

Favorite”meh” car?

Don’t forget to replace that Best Buy-installed ugly-ass radio.

Thanks!

Back to the Future - best car movie ever.

I feel the exact same way about my Jeep Wrangler, and it’s a 2011 JK. The less beeps, the better.

Beauty, for me, is when a design is uncompromising. When it is made for an exact purpose, and isn’t trying to be anything else. This is why crossovers bug the hell out of me. They are basically trying to be minivans for people who won’t buy a minivan because SUV’s are “cooler” in their eyes.

In the back of my own vehicle on a 98° August night in South Carolina. From then on, that vehicle was like the telltale heart. No matter how many times it was steam cleaned, I still smelled it.

Neutral-

I have two.

Gas mileage is important to me, but it would be ridiculous to buy a new car and take on a new payment to buy a vehicle with better mileage in the name of saving at the pump. I have DD’d a Jeep Wrangler for the past five years, and have dealt with the poor mileage that goes with it by slowing down and toning down the
