That’s fair, and I get it. One thing that makes it more understandable to me (not an excuse, just an understanding) is that a lot of trans folks have experienced terrible hardship at the hands of cis people for being trans. While I agree that nobody should be making threatening statements, I also get why someone who

As I was the one who told them that their vitriol was unwelcome and unproductive, it’s disingenuous of you to imply that I am saying they deserve it.

That person was called out immediately, and apologized. Also, TERFs are not “women who have beliefs that differ”, they are women who want to push trans people into unsafe spaces, and out of public life. They keep themselves rhetorically removed from actual calls for trans people not to exist, but that’s the great

Just a note: this sort of comment gives TERFS ammunition to claim that trans folks and their allies are violent misogynists. If you’re trans, I get it but seriously this doesn’t help. If you’re not trans, please don’t defend us this way.

Do you not know how this site works, bud? It’s a sarcastic headline. Either that, or you’re severely lacking in reading comprehension.

Oh I know, I dismissed him already-and pointed out how full of shit he was, as well.

Weird that you ignored the whole thing about this pushing kids towards suicide, almost as though you’re full of crap. At any event, back to the grays with you, fiend.

Forcing trans kids to undergo the wrong puberty has been shown to lead to bad outcomes, up to and including suicide.

Still totally failing at that flounce, I see. Seems like your ability to follow through on that is on par with your ability to understand fairly basic distinctions like the one between sex and gender.

Man, you can’t even flounce off properly. Pathetic. And I won the argument because you are ignoring things that undercut your claims. Feel free to try again on the flounce, though, because the only thing more hilarious than some pathetic troll who is trying to logic away trans identities is one who keeps claiming that

Is she coming out as a transphobe? That’s the only reason I can think of to announce you’ve joined Substack.

Awww baby is angry because nobody will listen to him delegitimize trans identities! How logical! And you still dodged the fiat currency thing, I assume because it poked a hole in your “logic” that you cannot overcome. It’d be hilarious, if you weren’t pushing transphobia.

Carefully avoided the fiat currency thing, eh? Because based on your definition, fiat currency isn’t real either. Just because something isn’t based in material fact doesn’t mean it’s not real, although you seem sort of belt and suspenders about the whole thing anyways.

Man you must be equally angry about the idea of fiat currency, if you consider people’s identities to be just feelings and/or opinions. I look forward to your fifteen page dissertation in response.

Except they don’t. “Boy” is gender. “Male” is sex. Sex is based on sex characteristics. Gender is based on cultural expectations around sex *and* gender identity. It’s a social construct that is mostly, but not completely, built around a set of people with a certain sex. So no, you are not correct so far.

Sounds like you don’t know the difference between gender and sex, which is kind of a critical component of the discussion of trans identities.

And what do you suppose happens when a kid insists that they are a little girl instead of a little boy, despite the parents telling them that their gender identity is wrong, which is very clearly what you’re advocating?

Well, in this case it is referencing the book. The alternate headline, “Why Kyle Lukoff wrote “Call Me Max” to be deliberately basic” makes it more clear. It would be like a headline reading, “The Strategic Deployment of Asian”, where the adjective is standing in for the concept that underlies it. While the article

It’s being used as an adjective in the title.
