What’s horrible is that these people will become so defensive about racism that they’ll refuse to recognize it in themselves. It’s that unwillingness to self-reflect that paralyzes progress.

Education

This happened to us when I was finishing grad school. Because I could technically have quit going to school, our benefits were cut. We made it but anything like a broken-down car or sick kid would have sunk us at that point.
