Unfortunately, if he reads your reply he’ll cherry-pick portions to take offense to or come up with a straw-man argument to serve as some hypothetical thought exercise. Your point is great, though.

I can read and I’m allowed to speak, too, thanks. Fortunately, I come here for me and you don’t make a difference in my life.
Haha! Thanks for making me laugh.
Zac Efron is... James Bond.
I like the Daniel Craig movies but it’s too much when he’s all like, “poor me, I drink and have empty relationships because of the hole in my heart.”
Yeah, they do that and I’m sorry you have to go through that just to maintain “professionalism.”
Luther was good.
It’s not about being better. As a white person, it’s not about recognizing racism in others, it’s about recognizing the racism in myself. I have to recognize the effects of that unintentional racism and work to change those parts of how I interact with society around me.
Yes and we all know that movies must faithfully stick to details from the original source that don’t really matter and never deviate. That would be sacrilegious.
Thanks. I’m probably not going to watch it at the theater because I don’t get to do that very often. I’ll definitely check it out on video, though.
This. I’m so ashamed of a lot of white people.
Good point. While a Bond movie starring a black man could be successful, a Bond movie starring a cookie-cutter white guy will be successful. They won’t take that risk. Black Panther has certainly challenged those ideas, though.
You may have a point. I don’t think he looks too old but I can see how that could change in a few years, too. There are lots of other people who could play Bond. The real reason is that he’s too black and we all know that. People flipped out that Daniel Craig had blonde hair. I can only imagine what the deplorables…
I haven’t seen Black Panther for a couple of reasons. One, I only see about one or two movies a year at a theater because I don’t have anyone to watch my kids. Two, I’ve never liked superhero movies. I’m so skeptical of superhero movies because they seem corny to me. Is Black Panther good even for someone who doesn’t…
I’m responding to you because I don’t want to talk to whyareyousoracist. As a response to his ridiculous line of thought, though:
Something I really like about The Root: people show so much restraint to keep commenters like whyareyousoracist in the greys. There’s nothing that can be said to help people with that level of ignorance. Nice work. Let’s keep that up.
Oh, I liked Daniel Craig, too. I just think Idris Elba would be awesome.
I don’t care what he wants. He’s supposed to play the roles that fans want him to play, because Hollywood people are not real people but exist only to fulfill our boring lives by looking awesome and sexy.
Is there a good reason Idris Elba isn’t James Bond yet? Everyone I know who has watched anything he’s in says, yeah, he’s perfect.
She thought that black people were waiting around every corner to jump her. But not because of the ticket, just because that’s what she believes. That’s why she keeps a gun under her pillow.
