It isn’t, at worst it’s about break even.

Tesla might be more open to franchising if the franchise laws wasn’t such a huge bag of worms. In many other countries, franchises and company owned auto dealers exist side by side without issue.
You are 100% correct. The RAV4 is handily outselling the Prius in the North American market. I have seen hundreds of current Prius owners and leasees switch to the RAV4 because... crossover (Yeah!). The next most popular is the Camry Hybrid that has more room. I am happy they are buying vehicles with higher MSRP's and…
This is stupid.
Spot on. But I argue Tesla tackled the two biggest roadblocks to electric vehicles: Range and lack of a recharging infrastructure.
Strawman much, pal?
I don’t think it was ever implied they invented electric vehicles. I don’t think there is anyone who thinks that.
Mad Bruh?
I imagine that Jalopnik staffers are currently rolling around on the floor as they do not yet have a grave to turnover in.
You’ve got the Mirai and Chiron on here which are huge feats of engineering and none of the below?
And the market has moved away from that range. 130 miles means maybe 95 in the winter. I only charge to 80% because I want my battery to last. So maybe I’d get 75 miles in the winter. It's fine for a city only car. Most people don't won't want to spend 40k for a city Only car.
I'm a Mazda fan but this offering is crap. It's just a compliance car that they have no interest in even making. I can't imagine the range anxiety in that thing.
True in the longest-term sense, but the market is willing to accept years of unprofitability as long as sales growth continues (cf. Amazon).
It’s not triple that of Toyota. Look in the article; it’s less than 1/3 the value of Toyota. Price of a single share is irrelevant if that’s what you’re basing your comment on.
EVs have 90% of the infrastructure already there in form of the grid. The remaining 10% is rather cheap.
You can’t really compare a startup’s performance to a century-old, deeply established stalwart like F and GM. They don’t compare. They exist in different orbits. Tesla’s yearly sales brand-wide is approximately equivalent to an older brand’s sales for a single model.
Gas is way more expensive in the UK, almost $6 a gallon:
They have prototype roaming around in Argentina and other parts of South America. They’ll probably started on production soon. Rivian’s no Faraday Future, where they take your money and not make any moves. If anything, I’m pretty sure Rivian is financially stable, making serious moves, and are getting there. I…
They’ve been in pre-production for a while. I’m confident they’ll ship towards the end of this year.
