Jalop doesn’t compare EV’s like they compare ICE cars. They would never say “Well the new VW Jetta is really going to undercut the BMW 3 series, so we’ll see if the 3 series still sells well”.

You’re lucky. ABS was the beginning of the end. It allows people to drive way to fast for the conditions because they know ABS will let them stop more quickly. Now they rely on it when all they had to do was drive at a safe speed and pump the pedal in the snow.
“It will be interesting to see if Tesla’s dominance will be challenged with the launch of the new Volkswagen ID.3, which should undercut the ~43,000 Euro (~$47,000) Model 3 in pricing by quite a bit.”

October 2011 : Tesla’s not making money, they’re going under
Ah, yes, Porta Potty blue.
My understanding is that you can’t be ticketed for running a stop sign on private property, but that they can absolutely be used in fault-finding for insurance purposes.
I have a Model 3, and likely will get the update with Smart Summon pretty soon, but there is no way I would try what these people are doing with their cars. I am astounded at Model 3 owners who put a shocking amount of faith in these immature systems. While they are impressive, they still have a long way to go, and…
I saw the M5 and literally laughed out loud.
An E60 M5? He said he has $70,000, not $700,000.
A bunch of appliances with over 700 horsepower. There may not be a ton of difference in character, but that’s because these things are near the practical limit of what a mass market car can justify.
That’s fair.
Wonderful write up, with lots of great information. I’m really excited to see a challenger to Tesla enter the market. (FWIW, my 2013 Model S P85 (RWD) has averaged 323 Wh/mile over 60,000 miles in snow country.)
“While we’re on the topic of interior imperfections, check out this open area under the center console. It’s totally useless.”
Seems like a great machine and you can tell Porsche gave its best effort, but the fact a 7 year old car is still technologically competitive goes to show how far ahead Tesla really was/still is. Unless something changes quick (e.g. solid state batteries) it seems Tesla will remain a generation ahead of competitors for…
Thanks for the insight about the cabin ambiance and noise directly compared to a Model S. I was particularly interested in that.
Excellent article as always, David. Strangely enough, my takeaway here is that I should be more interested in the Model S.
Yup, same with most sports cars, fancy trucks and motorcycles. You don’t attract women, just more dudes.
The dream: you pull up in a sleepy small european town and an attractive young ingenue begs for a ride in your fancy new car
