This is how the world ends.

Toys like this bother me slightly because I think kids are truly better off imagining these things. I think it’s important for kids to make up their doll’s words and personality themselves. While I’m sure some kids will still do that, the kids who aren’t as creatively inclined won’t, and those are the kids who need

As the mother of a young girl:

Yup- furious. We have enough shit (literal and figurative) to deal with, without this show actively trying to harm our reputation. It’s wonderful to see the public’s response for what we all do, and I thought Miss Colorado’s monologue was beautiful.

I know that face all too well... That’s a kid who has come face to face with one of the worst aspects of humanity and realizes how helpless he is to do anything about it.

Same, it seems to me if they truly believed it was a bomb, the school would have been evacuated and the reaction would have been more dramatic. They had no reason to suspect this kid of any wrongdoing, this is simple bigotry and prejudice because of his name, skin color, and assumed religious affiliation. Fuckers.

I read in another article that he’s also a member of the robotics club at school... like shouldn’t all of his teachers know that he’s pretty into building cool things.

And refused to let him call his parents. Isn’t it illegal to question a minor without a parent, guardian or lawyer present?

Because they didn’t really think it was a bomb...or even a “movie bomb.” They thought they could terrify a kid into “confessing” that he’d made a fake bomb to bring to school (to scare people, I guess) and by the time they realized they couldn’t there was no walking the story back. Now they’re just gonna ride it until

They led Ahmed into a room where four other police officers waited. He said an officer he’d never seen before leaned back in his chair and remarked: “Yup. That’s who I thought it was.”

This country has gone insane. I blame the 24 hour news cycle.

Honest to fuck. This is how extremists are created. Poor kid. Poor bright, inventive, ambitious, creative kid. Don’t want your kind there, apparently.

This makes me so angry I could throw up. Fuck all of the teachers and cops who saw a brilliant young brown kid with a ‘scary’ name and decided, “yup, definitely a bomb.” Ahmed is probably smarter than all of those numbskulls put together.

I’m very skeptical of their story. When police take a bomb threat seriously, they evacuate the premises and send in a little robot to investigate/detonate it. This is straight up “this kid is a Muslim and an engineer which means he could grow up to be a bomb-making terrorist, so let’s give him a scare he’ll never

When I was a misfit freshman in high-school, some nosy classmate (this was before 9/11 but after Columbine) poked through my notebook and decided that my idle video-game based doodles were, in fact, bomb plans and dimed me out to the administration. You’ll never believe what happened!

They handcuffed him, for fuck’s sake. He wasn’t under arrest, yet they handcuffed him.

Of all the fucked up shit I read daily on Jezebel, this is the first one to ever make me cry. Just looking at that kid’s confused, barely pubescent face is breaking my heart. Yes, please, let’s stifle the children with the innovation and drive to build and invent things other than social media profiles.

Am i missing something or is it not illegal for police to question a child without a parent or guardian present? Also,Texas.....

There are times when I have hope for America. Then shit like this, Kim Davis, and Donald Trump happen and my only hope is that there is enough wine at home.

I hate GoFundMe. I haaaaaaate GoFundMe. But I feel like starting one to send this kid to MIT.
