I hate to break this to you, but the American justice system has ALWAYS allowed the testimony of a witness to stand as proof beyond reasonable doubt.

Whoever told you that a witness needed corroboration to their claims in order to be able to prove something beyond reasonable doubt was lying to you. Our legal system permits juries to convict solely on witness testimony, if they believe the witness is telling the truth.
