Agreed. I have a sedan and the camera and cross traffic alert gives me a much better view than if I’m backed in and trying to see around other cars parked next to me.

My question wasn’t about maneuverability, it was about safety. There are clearly some benefits to it, otherwise nobody would back in.
Related: I’ve had a question on the whole “backing in” theory. For years the consensus was that if you back into a parking spot, it is safer for everyone. I contend that with back-up cameras, the opposite is now true... as backing out with cameras gives you a better view than forward. This is especially true when…
Interesting question... my vote would be the Mustang would be the last one standing in the US.
From my understanding, the US is keeping a lot of manual sales alive for these vehicles, not worldwide.
However, I still argue this is just the automakers trying to shave costs. If they don’t make many manuals, obviously not many will be sold... then they can claim how nobody (very little) want them. And the process…
Right? I think the same when I see vineyards right up next to a highway... but jet fuel is dang potent.
This isn’t a specific handle, but any car that has the touch lock/unlock on every door. I have a TLX with this, (I’m sure there are many more), and although the handles themselves aren’t anything special, being able to lock/unlock from any one of the 4 doors is perfect.
Love these S4s, yet this is a hard no. When will people learn that modifying a car does NOT add value. (and yes I know there are certain exceptions... but those are rare).
whaaa... can’t you see my shocked face?
I had the perfect answer, but the car was so utterly forgettable I cannot remember what it was.
Yup, Mk7 (or 7.5)s are going to be the most sought after for years.
I see that, but then I wonder why? That is, they slope it like a lot of the “coupe-like” SUVs, which some people pay extra for, but the side view it’ll look more traditional. Therefore, the functionality is compromised but the aesthetic is traditional? Seems backwards to me.
I agree with some of your points, but overall I’m glad cars like this exist (or existed). Even if this is something I’d never have the means to own, I’ll always hope for more options, great cars, wild cars, etc...
Why are we so jaded that every single comment is complaining about this? Is it likely the next amazing thing? doubtful... but why are we hating on attempted innovation? This is the kind of thinking that is needed to improve. (btw, for every great invention, there are many more failed attempts).
You asked about the E9x M3. I do like the E46 better (shocking, I have one), but my neighbor had an E90 recently and the v8 was absolutely glorious. It sounds amazing and doesn’t stop pulling as the revs climb. I can’t argue the rest, but the v8 alone is worth a lot.
This is what I was thinking. If someone wanted a pristine P1800, they are looking for an original. And just like you mentioned, it’s just not “modded” enough to go for this kind of cash as a resto.
Agreed. I’d also suggest when I see this I am torn 50/50: Does that shine mean it’s as sticky as syrup or would you slip right off? Either way, simply nasty.
Back in the day, this was a quirky and cool car... today it’s just slow and in bad shape.
All make sense. But you have to see it like a car exec.
“Wagon” = discontinued in 2 years due to lack of sales
“SUV” = $$$$$
This is the answer: They thought it would be more profitable. End of discussion.
