I reluctantly agree with the Syclone/Typhoon. I agree with everything the poster said, along with “what I wouldn’t give to have it back...” To me, it just can’t be “terrible” if it is that desirable. Early 90's GM build quality though... woof.

Makes sense. I would say that 2 gerbils on a couple of wheels under the hood would likely be better than the iron duke... so hardly saying much, but I get your message.
That’s fair. And I didn’t mean to say the entire car was awful, but the interior and overall fit/finish were... well awful. Good to drive though.
I never actually drove one, but I heard that quad-4 was pretty bad. I mean, good power, but thrashy and unbalanced. Feel free to correct me if I’m wrong though.
I don’t mind you saying it again though, because I didn’t remember that. So.. thanks!
Good answer, however I argue the Gen 2 isn’t bad at all. I think you could still get the manual in it as well. (no, not sporty, but great sleeper).
I was just thinking this... high power, awful car. Pretty sure you can lump the neon srt-4 in this too.
This is a fair comment. I went ND (as I vote assuming I want to drive it), but this is a worthy consideration. Depending of course on how much work it really needs (but that’s going to be a guess).
This was my thought: If you really want the original, this is probably a good way to go. If it were me, I’d go next gen (and yes, maybe spend a bit more).
Cool.
Now please tell us about the Clown Shoe and the X5!
This is a refreshingly sane and balanced take. We don’t always get a lot of that around here... but makes sense to me.
They have not. Well, it isn’t that this one is particularly “bad” compared to others, (it’s miles better than Nissan’s, but that’s faint praise), but it’s just boring. It is so boring and “blah” than I’ve put more energy into typing this out than Subaru spent on making the CVT enjoyable to use.
If you think it is boring to look at, try driving one. Between the relatively weak engine and the sponge that is the CVT, pushing a shopping cart is far more exciting.
That smell is smoke. The window trim is the give-away... I don’t know an auto detailer good enough to get rid of smoke.
Interesting for me, the mileage isn’t a concern at all. Still a ND from me, but from other issues (mentioned already).
To be fair, I believe Civics hold their value really well. I’m not going to disagree with an ND, but I’m not sure it is that far off. (The mileage isn’t the issue for me, it’s the smoker’s window trim and modifications that kill it for me).
Completely agree, auto ND from me when it has the smoker’s package window trim.
What is the absolute lowest price one can pay for a running vehicle? (that’s what this is worth).
Yup, figure this car is worth around $6700 with a clean title, (pending an inspection anyway). But salvage title kills resale by a good 30-50% of whatever it should have been. Ask $3500 and it’s a fair price.
And the GT4 will dust this completely. If speed was the only point, this car wouldn’t exist.
