My screen name is probably sufficient to answer that :)
I am fast approaching my 12th anniversary at this company. In addition to a decent wage, I have 4 weeks vacation, 10 fixed and two floating holidays, the company contributes 6% of my salary to a 401(k) and also will match me up to an additional 8% . . . and —get this— I can expense the deductible on my health…
It can be, yes. Only do this if you know what you are doing.
Not exactly, just the same goal and result. The approach is different.
That's pretty funny, actually.
I had a landlady who was certainly not in her right mind. She gave me a thirty-minute bitching-out for performing a simple test to determine that the thermostat was not malfunctioning when the heat went out. (Background: I have some informal HVAC training having worked for my Dad, who is an HVAC contractor). I…
As I understand it, German, English and Dutch (plus a few other languages) are actually pretty closely related. French is more related to Spanish, Italian, Portuguese, etc. It makes sense you would retain your German better than your French if you are speaking Dutch on a day-to-day basis.
I spend my sick days sick.
Mmmm, yum! And a little bit of that hot pepper relish that you find at the Italian delis.
Sounds like they are being decent about it. I mostly wanted to warn about the frequent misconception that the digital TV transition vacated the lower frequencies. It ends up being relevant to most antenna discussions, but maybe not this one.
Okay, so . . . not suitable for the Albany-Schenecatdy-Troy area where half of our TV stations are VHF.
Does it work on VHF-hi? How about VHF-low? They don't say on their site, and this is relevant and necessary information if you live in an area that is served by a VHF-low station that you would like to receive (WRGB, in my case).
Ghostery not only will tell you who it is, but will block the bug. Not only that, but it also runs on Opera and IE, and maybe some other browsers as well.
Obviously, they are mine, too.
Sweet! Thanks!
Would you please create a pair of RSS feeds, one for the audio only, and one for the video only, so that these can be retrieved in an automated fashion?
Both terms are relative. They're calling 256kbit "low" bitrate. Ten years ago, such a description would have been laughable.
They're not mastering to the speakers; they're mastering to the codec. This is no different than creating separate masters for vinyl, CD and tape.
It's worse than that. Engineers seem to be trying to raise the RMS to as close to the 0dBFS mark as they can get it. There's 96 god-damned decibels of dynamic range in 16 bits, but we're using less and less of it. I assert that some albums cut in the last ten years won't sound the slightest bit different presented…
