I’ve made the trip from KC to Padre (I know) in a straight shot, and the drives from NYC to KC and KC to LA in one shot.

Never cross-country (thank god) but I moved about 4,000 lps and 5,000 45’s for my last move; kept them (LPs) in the old school “peach crates” but wrapped them in moving blankets. 45’s were in the standard cardboard 45 boxes stacked and tied to the walls of the truck. As far as I know, I didn’t break/lose anything. But…

I speak publicly - a lot - to all sizes of crowds, in a governmental / political context, in situations that could absolutely make or break my career, in front of governors, mayors, elected officials, business leaders, etc etc.

I’m a state worker and just received notice that I, along with about 9,500 of my fellow civil servants, will be furloughed next week because our legislature has failed to pass a balanced budget (after eliminating taxes on 330,000 businesses in the state).

I’d ask you newly unionized folks to cheer me up, but I’m not…
