the early ’90s Mercedes C-class sedan, especially the 180E and 190E, as well as the 200E, 250E, and 320E models.

they both have the hydraulic suspension. extremely heavy and expensive to repair. the E55 and CLS55 have airmatic suspension which is significantly cheaper to maintain but still more expensive than coilovers.

I think a coilover kit for all of these is around 1200 though.

This is literally exactly the opposite advice from virtually every single w211 AMG owner on the entire planet. The supercharged E55 M113 v8 is hands down the better choice. Stock for stock, they put up identical numbers in spite of the extra HP from the 63 car. $500 supercharger pulley on the E55 and you’re walking

When you realize the Durango SRT isn’t supercharged, it becomes even less of a value at the initial purchase price. But a 3 year old lease return with dealer records would still be enticing, depending on what the market says they’re worth at that point. At 25k I would vote “yes.”

W211 E55 Wagon. In comparison to all the ones mentioned in the article it is: larger, comfier, more reliable, better looking, and significantly more fun while coming in at around $5k under your budget (you will need half that to rebuild the armatic which tends to fail about every 150k miles)

its the m111, a shortened M104.

I’m only here for the C36 AMG in the top image.

aren’t those 2 of the protagonists from the movie Chappie?

Uhhh, what? I’ve driven nothing but MB’s since the 90s and the biggest expense I’ve ever had in a year was when I replaced the engine in my C43 AMG for a grand total of around $3500; labor included.

W211 E55 Wagon.

Wake me up when it spills over into late 90s AMGs.

Uhh. What.

My mother was a parade of cool. She wasn’t even a ‘car’ person but damnit if she wasn’t just cool.

Dude. There’s a white s211 E55 AMG WAGON(!) in that line. Almost zero of those were built.

I always thought the C7 looked like a plastic surgeon’s botoxed and chopped up ‘enhancement’ of a C6

Why has no one mentioned the pop up headlights!?

Are we forgetting SRT10 Ram? It had an 8.3L V10 under the hood and was superior in every possible metric.

The real story here is the fake exhaust tips. That’s a far larger sin.
