I’m not worried. I’ve owned 3 so far.

Drivetrain loss on the Mercedes 722.6 is about 19-20%. So in the mid 240's when brand new and about 10hp off.

Bare in mind, he bought this car as the 11th or 12th owner for $200 in borderline junked condition. He’s done nothing on it but fix the broken radiator and fan and a couple leaks. Absolutely no idea what shape

AMG was a misguided trim level in the infamous MB malaise-era (2001-2007) because dealers were selling customers on AMG “upgrades” where they’d slap literally everything OE AMG onto a car (brakes, wheels, badges). Of course, neither the car nor the engine were hand built and they didn’t come with the AMG engine (the

Hang on. You’re getting a PPI on the E55 wagon in Atlanta? Best of luck, my friend. Hope it checks out and finds a happy home. It deserves a proper owner.

I am absolutely over the moon with MB wagons, the weirder the better. But I agree, this guy is nuts. There’s a w211 E55 wagon in Atlanta that was $29k asking price a year ago. Checked it just now: $18k. How much longer should I wait?

1: not a flat six

I’m a pretty competent DIY on my old Mercedes and Amg, but I’ve got an excellent Indy mechanic who has coincidentally been sorting out his son’s barn find 76 Targa. I’ll go to him for things I don’t trust myself with.

Found an old guy with an ‘80 911SC sitting in his storage bin. I’ve been bugging him to sell it to me for years. It’s a basket case but no rust. No idea what his asking price will end up being, nor do I know what is a “fair” deal.

But I want it.

Engine figures released:

All of that’s true, and it’s a pretty good car. But in that same price bracket it opens up a ton of other options. You can get anything from a clean E55 AMG of the same vintage to considerably-newer C350 or even E350 sedans that also have 300hp V6's but less of the IS’ annoyances. That doesn’t even touch on the

My dad’s old 1994 Chrysler LHS with over 330k miles once got me an extra 37 miles after reading 0 range. I reached a station and never ran dry, so no idea just how far it would’ve gone.

correct, probably played a big part in his decision. it’s one of the few cars that were sold worldwide and has been around long enough that parts should be relatively obtainable no matter what continent he’s on.

He’ll do what lots of people always assumed from the start but were labeled as pessimistic nay-sayers: sell it to one of the big brands and move on.

I’ve been looking for a good w219 CLS55 for 2 years now and literally the only thing stopping me from pulling the trigger on this car is the color scheme. W219 just demands to be painted black. End of discussion.

That’s a $200 part that you throw in with a $175 transmission flush and you just avoided replacing a $2k transmission. Good luck finding such a cheap and simple fix on any other modern automatic transmission.

it’s 90% the same car (with exactly the same power and drive train) as that 400k mile E55 that’s been all over youtube the last 3 months.

NP all day long.
