(This is me on a Soapbox so skip if you like):

It’s still ridiculous to me that they had to throw a public temper tantrum and cancel a game for Google to resolve the issue after a month of back-and-forths. Luckily for them they had something to leverage, but most people facing dumb issues with Google services won’t get covered by a Kotaku to force Google to get

I’m not sure. I looked around and found other people blaming it on a variety of things. Some people said it was a framerate thing and that blur effect causing their eyes to constantly shift in and out of focus. I’m not sure what exactly was causing it for me. Nobody was talking about it when the movie came out so I

We have our own cultural. Just ask anyone outside of the US if they like macaroni drowned in cheese or fried candy bars. lol

American culture is a bunch of different cultures from all over the world mashed together with everybody arguing what cultural thing belongs to which race.

easier to project your own insecurity and self-loathing outward onto a scapegoat that you can rage against than, like, actually looking at yourself in the mirror and dealing with said insecurity and self-loathing?

As usual, streamer news about someone of whom I have never heard and makes me feel old. But of all the stupidity exemplified by shitty guys in this story, the Minecraft quote sticks out to me for some reason.

Here’s the thing, though. There’s thousands of streams on Twitch where everybody’s chill and having fun, and every weekend there’s at least a dozen streamers raising money for various charities.

Im falling asleep as I write this, but my gut says “a willingness to add great detail to mundane objects in the scene, choosing to embrace moments of quiet, and balancing grounded reality and whimsical fantasy in the same stroke.”

I don’t know about this guy in particular, but a pattern you’ll find in rags-to-riches stories is that if you dig even a little bit almost all of them turn out to be riches-to-more-riches stories.

We can tax multi millionaires as well. Not really sure what your point is here. Sure billionaires are the bigger target, but i’m also interested in taxing millionaires.

No amount of effort justifies having 100's of millions of dollars in a country where hunger and poverty are still very real concerns.

Sigh. You want the truth?

Born to a fairly wealthy German immigrant family which enabled him to pursue entrepreneurship, yeah. People born with wealth can make mouth sounds about what poverty is like, but they never had it, and they tell lies habitually in order to obfuscate how much that is the case. Ohanian, like Musk and countless other

Seems to me his implication was maybe that wasn’t the right guy to *speak on it* - couldn’t they find somebody who didn’t have to overcome the skepticism you’re working to dispel? Not that he prima facie didn’t know or couldn’t empathize with being of a lower income background.

He was 1 year out of university and 23 year old when he sold Reddit for between 10 and 20 million. That doesn’t exactly scream working class the lion’s share of his life given that he’s 37 now and was a student before that. (Middle class maybe, but not working class. He’s effectively never worked for anybody.)

How brave of you, to come to the defense of kajillionaires, and to the bullshit bootstrap narratives that lionize them. Ohanian *is* a “lucky guy,” and his insane wealth *does* put a wall up between him and contemporary people in struggling economic classes.

Their accomplishments don’t mean they deserve to be worth 270 million dollars.

...or it’s just encouraging to see good journalism about video games from people who got their start here?

It’s nice to see Kotaku’s former employees having a good career in reporting in big(ger) organisations.
