Rather than an expansive open-world RPG or turn-based adventure, ZZZ will focus around a roguelite gameplay loop.

Great article, I love these long-form deep dives with developer quotes <3 (Also thanks for the heads-up about that ace game, this is the first time I’ve heard of it!)

From that “Reddit Is Killing The Best Way To Read The Site” original title I got a heart-attack that they are killing off old reddit 😰 The new layout is an atrocity.

Genshin became pretty much my main game for the last 1.5 years, so I’m not not touching Star Rail because it’s gacha. But because after Genshin the lack of an explorable open world is simply a dealbreaker for me. Narrow corridors + no jumping, come on, it’s so lazy. Exploration is like 2/3 the reason I enjoy Genshin.

Thanks for your work here Sisi, I for one always appreciated your Genshin posts :)

For conversations Reddit has largely taken over the role of game forums for me. Searchable, threaded conversations, it covers 99% of my needs. (The only thing missing is attachment uploads, but there are so many external file sharing providers for that. Or sites like NexusMods.)

for a UK perspective, The Guardian also has a games section (with ex-Kotaku Keza MacDonald!), though their output is much sparser than Kotaku’s ofc

For digital stuff it doesn’t matter, it’s just a hex code anyway. If you can’t access it in Photoshop anymore, take a screenshot of a previously exported image, eyedropper, bam, there’s the colour without the ridiculous copyright...

I don’t have specific numbers, but whatever “most pirated software” lists I’ve seen, Adobe programs are usually in the top #3.

Thank fuck I’ve only ever used hex and CMYK colours so far in my graphic design career.

[TW: child sexual abuse]

Not OP, but I dropped her novels when Lestat chastised a guy who had been sexually abused as a child for not letting his abuser do more...

As another example, I run a curator where I try to list every game on Steam that were made by Hungarian developers. I don’t want/need to own and play their games to be able to do this.

Genshin Impact, for the love of god please, I can’t play most characters because of their oversexualised outfits and boob jiggle. (I guess, as a f2p player, at least this saves me from FOMO 😐)

Learning that the game has action and stealth segments killed off my desire to get it :/ I thought it would be a chill (even if somewhat dystopian) adventure game!

I think the inherent disconnect between a person and their online identity is what allows the awful behavior all over the internet to thrive.”

Not in my experience. On Facebook I’ve seen so many middle aged and older people spewing truly horrid shit (eg. calling for the execution of migrants or LGBTQ people) with

Just a small correction, Mayhem on a Rainbow’s developer is “Lumi Finley”, not “Lumi Family”.

The chatcode is “:2016weiner:”, not “:steam2016:”.

“doesn’t Genshin Impact already have a few characters with darker skin tone?”

because they simply don’t fit with the game they’re making. You can’t just shove Pokémon into Call of Duty, or Street Fighter into Animal Crossing.”

This is my main issue with that whole metaverse idea. Those characters and items simply don’t belong in random other universes, all this would achieve is to ruin the

Idk the PC port works all right for me. It’s just a Unity game under the hood. It *does* use more CPU even when idle than, say, GW2, a native PC MMO, but it doesn’t lag or bug out for me.
