yes, which is what i felt at the time. And when LotR came out, while Peter Jackson did a great job, it comes down to Tolkien having created the entire world down to the languages and scripts of the various races. So Jackson didn’t have to add shit to fill it out.

On the face of it, the prequels were a great idea: the upbringing of Anakin, the Clone Wars, the destruction of the Jedi. But it suffered the same issues of a lot of movies of the period that were obsessed with CGI that allowed them to squeeze even more into the frame.

(The goofiest offenders are the ones who tag celebrities in critical but harmless conversations about their work. I’m sure Rihanna was just dying to know that @Stacy_burgh19921 thought ANTI was a coaster, you Donnie Brasco-ass nigga.)

Trilogies are hard as the Wachowskis found out. Lucas hit a homerun with his first trilogy, but faceplanted on the second and handed it off to another company to develop/destroy depending on your own point of view.
