Did anyone else get the impression that Madame Jeanne was upset cuz she thought something was cooking between her and Jamie than he waltzes in with a wife? I thought it was a strange parellel that a woman who is not his wife was acting wifely in the opening shot (fixing his cravat) and his actual wife makes a point to

Yeah I was a little surprised that Sean Penn was the first dirtbag of the list. Are we supposed to be horrified that two adults had consensual sex after working together on a vanity project? Is this even in the same category as sexual assault?

Both matters of personal taste.

Yeah, I get that—in theory. But did anyone really take Sean for a “real” journalist? I mean, this reeked of a stunt from the moment it hit the news. So, perhaps, Kate is adding more evidence to the piles of evidence that we already have the Sean Penn sucks, but...still. Is anyone surprised by this? Also, Kate had

I think that says more about HW than anything else. He obviously thinks he has a better chance of defending himself against, and discrediting, a black actress. Who would have thought the serial sexual harasser piece of shit was also a racist piece of shit? Did I mention I hate the world?

A) Jezebel had a full page piece in support of Lupita’s op-ed within hours of it coming out.

B) The Weinstein response hit sometime late yesterday and got the low billing it deserves, in the next available Dirt Bag. Especially considering it hit right before the weekend and we know they switch over to night/weekend

Why is it news if they had consensual, casual sex after working together? I think Sean Penn is a person with some serious issues and I think his statement is bananas, but why publicize this? Just for publicity’s sake?

Because the chances of the perpetrator facing any consequences are extremely low, and the chances of the victim facing negative consequences (victim shaming, a reputation for being a drama queen or a liar, death/rape threats from the perpetrator’s “fans,” etc) are extremely high.

Because we train women to avoid sexual assault, rather than training people not to sexually assault. Women are told, directly and indirectly, and often from the best of intentions, that we should take all reasonable precautions to protect ourselves. The problem is that most of the precautions aren’t that reasonable,

Where would they find redress?

“What you wearing?”

Who’s President of the United States? How many women formally accused him of sexual assault BEFORE the election? Did it matter?

Because women are trained to be ashamed of themselves.

Your comment basically explains why she wouldn’t speak out. You think she’s the “powerful one here” so there’s no way Dr. Nassar would abuse her. She probably knew that’s what people would think. For people like Dr. Nassar and Weinstein doing these things to the “powerful ones” without fear of repurcussions makes them

Do you know a lot of 13-16 year olds with the confidence and self-assurance to do something like that? Don’t be dense.

Go easy on Bela, he was concentrating on his fortes, physical and emotional abuse.

And the Karolyis didn’t know. Sure and neither did Paterno.

My father once told me “Son, you can’t outrun a police radio.” Apparently this dude’s Dad didn’t give the same advice.

This.

I’ll preface this by saying I’m not yet a parent, but...
