Sometimes, I use Google services as the source and other applications for the actual use of that service. I don't use anything for Google Calendar, but for Google Reader, I use different apps on my devices and almost every email client supports Gmail. That's a reason someone may like a desktop application and still

That's actually what my German teacher does. She's got a PAL drive for the German movies she's imported, but an NTSC one for everything else.

Subs don't help too much. The point of this was that you learn how to pronounce things instead of the clean, no-accent way of Rosetta Stone.

I don't know how Mac updates work since I've never had a computer with the OS myself. These must be like mini Service Packs because the OS didn't come out oo long ago. Plus, some people call Lion a Service Pack. lol

While a good idea, this really only works for a few languages. Unless the company decided to include more than 2 other languages, you only get Spanish and French. To get the language I'm learning, German, I'd have to import DVDs and get a PAL DVD drive or player. This seems like a good idea though.

It depends. On Windows, those updates are mainly security updates. On Linux, updates are just for programs mainly. Sometimes there may be a system update and you could just uncheck that.

The point I was making was that some games are no different than a movie or book. Tetris is completely different than a book. I agree that Tetris is art. Hell, I'm proud of the crap I make that CLI. It wasn't applicable to the argument I was making.

You forgot to mention it's an art form. It's no different than reading a book or watching a movie. I'm not talking about arcade games like Tetris. I'm talking about games with epic stories like Planescape Torment and Mass Effect.

If 4.3" is too big, avoid the Galaxy Nexus like the plague because it's 4.65". ^_^

Lifehacker has articles about Adblock Plus as well. They don't hide it. Lifehacker shows you how to do it even if it hurts them negatively. This article was for people who don't want to have a full blown ad blocker.

Well, there's a difference between removing the entire bar (pointless, imo, because you don't see notifications) and just removing the clock and battery like I was talking about.

You can indeed change out the icons for the things in the status menu, but unless someone else gives you the option, you can't remove them. Most people don't want to remove them, so no one has spent the time coding it. It also depends on which manufacturer UI you have when it comes to percentages. I can only speak for

"use a ROM that gives you that specific option"

Where are you seeing these two clocks? Are you referring to in the status bar? There's no way to get rid of those unless you're rooted and use a ROM that gives you that specific option. It's also a lot easier to look at the homescreen for a clock because it's bigger and for the battery, more accurate (percent vs how

Android apps are never free temporarily. Most of them have ad-supported free versions anyway. The only time there are is the rare time that Amazon has a good app for the app of the day. Usually, Amazon has crappy apps for free.

Eh, Siri is mainly a gimmick, but I see its uses when you're driving. That's the only reason I'd use it if I had an iPhone.

This is how I feel. The only iCloud services I use are the email for my Apple ID (I was transitioning from my parents' email anyway) and the iDevice back up since it's backed up more often when I don't have to connect it. Overall, it's underwhelming.

I'm sure I'm not the only one, but "apps" to me is just a shortened version of "applications". Just because Apple markets "apps" as simple mobile applications, doesn't mean that other programs can't be called "apps". Apple ruined the word, imo, if it's come to the point where people will complain about it.
