Only ‘Variety’ reported that multiple other people were talking with the District Attorny about Major’s having previously abused people. Both ABC & NBC news were unable to verify that story. If Variety got it wrong then Major’s has been dragged through the mud for nothing. This is why it’s important to wait for all

I mean, one answer about when to use a PI would be, “When your client is potentially signing a multi-multi-million dollar contract with Disney.” A company with a PI on staff would presumably have criteria for when to call on their services and how much time/effort they’d want spent on a particular case. And

Crossing my fingers for Jane Krakowski!

You’re serious? Unlike the police, a PI doesn’t need actual evidence that stands up in a court of law. So the PI could just say, “Yeah, so I talked to his ex’s. Lots of suspicious refusal to chat with me. Trying way too hard to tell me he’s great. Sketchy. Ask him what’s going on there.”

If a company can do a through background check on on an employee prior to providing elevated access, I’m pretty sure Disney of all companies could fund a pretty thorough check on a guy they anticipate being the lynchpin of several billion in movie revenue. You don’t have to ask him a thing.  There are companies and

^ This right here.

It’s not as though Jonathan Majors was a complete unknown before he landed Kang.

Lovecraft Country was a critical darling, and he’s been in other roles in some pretty good films prior (I especially liked him in White Boy Rick). White #MeToo going on, any prior complaints would’ve likely been raised

Well not with that attitude!

I wonder if they have some kind of clause in the contract for this type of situation, that when you sign on, you are stating you have been forthright about any issues that could be harmful to the movie, and if anything comes to light, it would trigger repercussions, like forfeiture of the deal without a buyout.

Seriously, a “background check” just means making sure there are no police reports or newspaper articles about the dude. Not personally interviewing every one night stand he’s ever had.

Crossing my fingers for John Krasinksi!

From Vulture: “Sources close to Feige say he believes he’ll have to talk to potential alternatives soon, but, given Marvel’s history of recasting Black actors, the timing of doing so is a delicate matter. One producer shared that Feige feels ready to sound out Will Smith for his interest, but doesn’t want his call to

I'm not in the biz so I may not know how this works but I'm genuinely shocked that Disney doesn't have literal teams of people whose entire job it is to do this kind of research. And if they already do, apparently they're not very effective.

Have a PI on staff.

You’d think by now studios would be doing background checks on anyone they’re entrusting with a major franchise.

Didn’t they settle with ScarJo when she sued them over releasing Black Widow day-and-date on Disney+? That’s probably a functional win, depending on the settlement

Exactly. The Mouse knows contract law.

Why It Matters If He Strangled Her” is a weird header choice. Seems pretty self-evident.

Yes, I was about to type, if your writing has to do with culture or dialects. Grammarly is not for you.

You should basically assume that any plugin that runs on every page is tracking your complete browsing history (and selling it to third parties).

Frankly, I quit Grammarly in short order because it seemed to have a (likely unintentional) anti-style agenda. I may use expressions that are dated, and I may sometimes say a thing in longer form than strictly necessary, but with years of writing experience I’ve struck a balance between expression and brevity.
